About this listen

FIRST IN THE GUARDIANS TRILOGY

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a trilogy about three women and three men who join forces to solve an ancient mystery through the power of timeless love…

Sasha Riggs is a reclusive artist, haunted by dreams and nightmares that she turns into extraordinary paintings. Her visions lead her to the Greek island of Corfu, where five others have been lured to seek the fire star. Sasha recognizes them, because she has drawn them: a magician, an archaeologist, a wanderer, a fighter, a loner. All on a quest. All with secrets.

Sasha is the one who holds them together - the seer. And in the magician, Bran Killian, she sees a man of immense power and compassion. As Sasha struggles with her rare ability, Bran is there to support her, challenge her, and believe in her.

But Sasha and Bran are just two of the six. And they must all work together as a team to find the fire star in a cradle of land beneath the sea. Over their every attempt at trust, unity, and love, a dark threat looms. And it seeks to corrupt everything that stands in its way of possessing the stars....

Probably the worst narrator - very disappointing

This I think was going to be a really good book. I got to chapter 7 and I just couldn’t go on with it. The narrator is tedious and dies the worst voices for the characters. It’s a shame as I love these sort of stories, especially when there is a series.

OK but felt very drawn out.

Maybe 7/10
A fantasy book about 3 woman and 3 guys who (predictably) end up together. They all have special powers which we gradually get to learn about as they open up. Overall this book, first of a trilogy, felt very drawn out. The scenes with Nerezza in them, especially the first were the best.
Among the ramblings are many, many unnecessary mentions of food! Also one of the characters in particular (Annika) comes across a bit one dimensional.

A bit different I guess. I won't be continuing the trilogy as the story is just too drawn out.
Good narration.

A Nora Roberts Trilogy

This is great if you enjoy other trilogies such as the circle or dark witch. Really enjoyed listening to the first one but the later books in this series are better. great performance had this narrator on another series.

Amazing and fantastic.

Would you listen to Stars of Fortune again? Why?

Yes i would, because i found the story really exciting and was really transported to the setting and also the characters and the way they were introduced and then developed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Stars of Fortune?

When Sasha finally accepted what she was and helped with saving everybody at the end.

What about Saskia Maarleveld’s performance did you like?

I loved the way she gave each character there own voice and ket the suspence going with her naration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, in fact i pretty much did.

Any additional comments?

Amazing book and i can't wait to start book two and read Anika's and Soya's story.
