Summary
Barely recovered from her brush with necromancy, Ivy is flung once more into a world of intrigue, adventure, and potential death and disaster. It's not her fault - it just so turns out that she's now the only person in the entire world who can communicate with the dead. And they're a chatty bunch with a list of demands.
When the ghosts offer information about a witch-hating mass murderer in return for Ivy's help, she has no choice but to get involved. She might be getting herself into more trouble than she realizes, though - and that's even before she's dragged to Sunday dinner so she can meet Winter's family....

Love this book
I really enjoyed this book even though the ghosts are very modern in their speech. Easy to listen to and good plot.

Funny magic realism
Downloaded this originally as the first two books were free, didn’t hesitate to buy the 3rd and now wishing we had more Ivy Wilde adventures!
A really entertaining book that brings magic effortlessly into modern day living. Funny, believable and I loved the narrator, especially how she brought Brutus the cat to life!

Brutus!!!!
I love the writing, the cat is the greatest character of my decade. the narrator needs to work on her accents but you get used to it.

One to keep!
This is definitely a book I could read and listen to over again. The narrator is excellent, suits the character perfectly and manages the different voices well. Helen Harper balances the humour and the serious aspects successfully which is a difficult job in a book like this.

Love the series
Yes a lot of people have commented about the accents but I got used to it quickly, yep they’re not accurate but neither is a world with magic (or is it!) so never mind!

Did not like this as much as the others
I fell asleep listening to this. Tanya Ebys preformance was the same (very good), but I thought the story was not very interesting. A bit to grim and not very funny. Do not even remember if the cat did anything funny. I still sort of liked it since Tanya Eby is a joy to listen to.

I loved this series
This is a great series. I really enjoyed it. Usually I find Americans writing stories set in Britain annoying, but this was less so than most, although why have it read by an American, Renee Zellweger managed an English accent for Bridget Jones. I do think the author translated “bummer” into “arse”though without realising it’s not the same!

US English
Ghosts circa 18th century use very modern US English slang and the English is generally hip American, plus the narrator is American. If that does not bother you when the tale is set in the British landscape then it’s an entertaining series.
The heroine’s laziness is rather extreme and irritating as a repetitive theme, but her courage is pleasing.
