About this listen
After the tragic death of his lover, Helen Flemming, Eisenmenger throws himself back into his work as a forensic pathologist. The newly promoted Chief Inspector Beverley Wharton brings him in to help on the grisly discovery of a severed head in a local farmyard.
When a headless – but female – body then turns up in a dustbin, they must acknowledge that this shows all the signs of the work of a serial killer. However, this killer seems to have scientific knowledge and a desire to experiment with his victims in his search for the ultimate soul…

Great series
Completely addicted to this series. Strong characters, great plot, well written and delivered by one of my favourite readers.

An Unhelpful Review
There is something not quite right about this story. All the ingredients are there but it had lost something in the telling. This is not a criticism of Sean Barrett's superb narration; but of the quality of ... what? The language perhaps? A hastiness or laziness in the choice of words? Too many easy cliches? Characters with too little credibility? Something isn't 100%.
And I tell you what's really annoying. Each chapter is preluded with a single line from the chapter you are about to hear. What's that all about? Every time you hear the words used in context they jar with the story. It emphasises a handful of words that then just distract from the reading.
Sorry, this review doesn't help does it? I am not saying, don't buy it, because it's basically fine. I'm just a trifle irritated with the author.
