Smoky is a hero
This is such a fun, entertaining and uplifting listen. A stroke of genius by the author to write the story entirely using little Smoky’s voice, eyes & ears too. It tells the tale of how a tiny Yorkshire Terrier became a World War Two American Army Hero, a Therapy Dog, and after the war a Hollywood Star. The horrors of war are not glossed over, but Smoky’s courage through adversity shines throughout. This tiny dog displays bravery and total dedication and obedience to Bill, her owner. Smoky brought joy to war weary soldiers. Long after the war was over she continued to delight as a therapy dog and Hollywood star. It's a wonderful book. Inspired writing. I particularly liked that Smoky, a girl dog, has a woman narrator, (and later in the story, Bill’s wife), and the GIs have a man’s voice. Highly recommend
