I've read the Rift War books many times over the past 20 years and was worried that a narrator wouldn't match my memory. I had nothing to fear, other than some random pauses which must have happened as part of the mastering process the story was well told.
The story is a proper adventure/quest tale which is well paced and an excellent if too short follow up to Magician. It also sets the scene perfectly for the climax in Darkness at Sethanon.

If you have not listened to or read Magician, stop now and do it first.
By the end of this story, Jimmy the Hand has become a solid favourite of mine. He is courageous and intuitive and loyal to the end. Prince Arutha risks life and limb to save his beloved Anita and makes loyal friends on a dangerous quest which may cost the lives of all of the men who started it. Pug’s bravery and belief in doing the right thing, brings an end to the government of a foreign land, and he must flee for his life. Will he be safe if he can get back to his own world? Will the war between the two worlds finally come to an end? What will happen to Tomas?
I could not stop this thrilling sequel, and trust that the conclusion to this trilogy will be as much of an adventure.

An extremely satisfying story to the trilogy I thoroughly enjoyed this book well getting told the book as I have read it quite a few times I have listened to this story once I'm probably will definitely listen to it again you have to read this book this book is an amazing story.

great story and va as usual but chapter numbering was off and chapters would also sometimes overlap on the same audio chapter track .

sometimes this would cause repeats of the first 5 minutes of the chapter when going to the next chapter track. overall amazing audio book.
