Summary

Back at work for British intelligence, Charlie’s Japanese assignment might just be his last....

Charlie Muffin was once the toughest agent in British intelligence. He wasn’t strong, fast, or charming, but he knew how to survive. When his agency branded him a traitor, he eluded their pursuit for years. After eventually proving his innocence, he’s invited back into The Firm. But only just.

Consigned to a monotonous desk job, it takes months for Charlie to get a real assignment. A KGB agent in Tokyo wants to defect to the other side. Charlie’s role is to bring him across. But as Charlie has learned from all those evasive years, there’s never anything simple or safe about running away.

Yet another great listen.

Napoleon Ryan has the skill to voice all the characters in a believable manner. Great storyline and well told, with twists and turns to keep you off the scent of where the story is headed. Now for the next Charlie exploit.

A good old fashioned spy novel.

Downtrodden Charlie is back in the field again. Pretty much everyone is out to get him and Charlie has the feeling that everything isn’t as it seems with this new mission and his feet hurt. If you’re going after Charlie Muffin, you’d better make sure he doesn’t see you coming.

One of the best Charlie M's

A terrific novel. Deliciously convoluted, and Freemantle is really good when the Far East is involved. For much of the time, the tension is as taut as a piano wire. The read is OK, with all the usual mispronunciations and parodically bad foreign accents.

Never Underestimate the Inquisition

One of the best books in the series so far, with great narration. Complex and conjunctive in true spy-craft novel style that might make Le Carre proud. Everyone plays chopsticks whilst quick stepping through eachother's plots; no one plays nice, not even those on Charlie's side. VERY ENJOYABLE

How does Charlie do it? Superspy!!

Another fast-moving, edge of your seat outing for Charlie Muffin. Thank goodness he's discovered trainers at last - he might finally get some relief from his sore feet!

Islay whisky

The Charlie Muffin books often mention Islay malt whisky but the reader insists on pronouncing it Is-lay correct pronunciation is eye-la the name of the island where it’s distilled
