About this listen

In 1940s London, each cobbled street is strewn with ghosts of soldiers past. And for the women, their battles are on the home front.

Flossy is embraced by the colourful mix of characters working at Trout's, who have turned their sewing expertise to war work. Dolly Doolaney, darling of the East End, helps Flossy settle into wartime life.

All of the sewing bees play their part in defending the front line, but as the Blitz hits London, can Dolly manage to contain the secret that binds them all?

Oh, wow..!

I’ve been listening to about 100 books through 2020 on various platforms, and this one is hands down the queen of all books in my libraries! It had me glued to my earphones like no book ever before, and I’ll miss the characters dearly... Being very familiar with stories from WW2, having grandparents experience the occupation and parents born during the last year of it, (Norway) this story hit very close to home. The narrator did an excellent job bringing it to life, and I will most definetely look for more books read by her!

A cup of tea to cure all ills!!

I loved the social everyday explanations of life during the war. I personally would have hated being underground but this showed the other side of that time vividly. The story line was gripping. Great book and read beautifully I will certainly enter the world of reader and writer again.

A lovely.....

storyline with some lovely characters in and some antics that make the story great. The narrator was very good using different voices for the characters.

Lovely story

Another great story by Kate Thompson I hope audible continue to have any of her future titles.
I liked the little connections to the other title by her that I had previously read. As some of the characters on the fringes of this book had featured before.
