Summary

THE INTERNATIONAL PHENOMENON BEHIND THE COSMERE

A COMPANION STORY TO THE ORIGINAL MISTBORN TRILOGY

****

There's always another secret.

Mistborn: Secret History is a companion story to the original Mistborn trilogy.

As such, it contains HUGE SPOILERS for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning.

Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterization, events, and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Reading it without that background will be a confusing process at best.

In short, this isn't the place to start your journey into Mistborn (though if you have read the trilogy - but it has been a while - you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books).

Saying anything more here risks revealing too much. Even knowledge of this story's existence is, in a way, a spoiler...

Interesting...

As always with Sanderson's books, I have difficulty accepting his definition of a god, when "gods" die and lack omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence, and so on... to the point of calling anyone in these stories a "god" is utterly ridiculous, yet he keeps doing that. :)
Beyond that I just love the level of thinking that goes into these stories as the big picture unfolds, and everything and everyone has a purpose, and makes perfect sense. :D I also like how he brought back a dead character, with this back story, (or at least started the process, cause you know... filling a potential plot hole properly takes thousands of pages of convoluted afterthoughts, when you have a hollow iceberg of seemingly huge worldbuilding without actually falling into tolkienism... :D)

A must if you are reading the Mistborn Trilogies

Another excellent read from Brandon and expertly bought to life by Michael's narration. Only read this after the original Mistborn! I listened after Bands of Mourning. Enjoy!

Gives great insight.

A lot of insight about what happened behind the screen in the previous books and how. The most epic thing was the decking at the start of the story. Great performance.

Kelsier's hidden role throughout.

Brandon Sanderson was first introduced to me by a very good friend who literally said to me "Bob you like Raymond. E. Fiests books because of the magic" yes I do, then he said "this guys characters ingest metals to give them powers" preposterous notion I thought but he got me, it works unbelievably well.

If like me you've read any of the mistborn series, you'll keep asking yourself "but what if kelsier didn't...." just as I thought, there are sky fairies (gods) at play and even better they are part of something MUCH bigger and not just in mistborn, warbreaker series and throughout as I've been told by my friend who is now waiting for Mr Sanderson to release the next installments.

This helps to understand more in Kelsier's role throughout mistborn as well as introduce you to some of the gods such as 'fuzz' there brilliant games and mysterious plans which only get deeper, twistier and darker the more you read.

My hat goes off to you Mr Sanderson, you've created a fantastic world, characters, creatures, gods and places that painted such a brilliant picture in my minds eye, thank you so very much and please continue to do so good sir.
