About this listen
She never wanted marriage....
When a friend is forced to consider a marriage of convenience, Lady Amelia Staunton is determined to rescue her. But her plans trap her in an illicit seduction, and Amelia must marry him herself. Malcolm's all-consuming kisses and devilish humor might make up for her lost freedom, but she believes he will force her to abandon the Gothic romances she yearns to write. Since she can't escape him, she must distract him from her secret.
He isn't looking for love....
A powerful autocrat with a well-hidden rebellious streak, Malcolm MacCabe doesn't need another beautiful mistress - he needs an obedient wife. Obedience is not one of Amelia's virtues. But he's too enthralled by her wit and passion to let her go - even if it means risking the political reputation he is building to save his clan.
Their hearts can't survive the scandal...
Despite their intentions, every wicked embrace binds them together. But as their conflicting desires combust into insatiable hunger and unavoidable ruin, they must decide whether to pursue their personal destinies alone - or fight for the love that could destroy them both.

A lovely story
Loved the story and reader. The development of the main characters and the inclusion of previous characters was well done

Good story
Good story, a friend goes along for the sake of propiority and ends getting the groom! The fastest moving listen in this series and you can't help wanting to know what happens. Less sex scenes than the others books this serie.

I Loved this book
I absolutely loved this book. It wasn't cheesy in the slightest.
We forget in this day & age just how bad life was in days gone by for women in particular, whether rich or poor it didn't matter. The plot was brilliant with twists & turns a plenty. Emma Powell did such a brilliant job narrating the story.
I'm off to listen to the next installment.
I would definitely recommend it.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed the first book and was into the second when it ceased being free and then I had to pay to listen to the rest. I really like Sara Ramsey’s books but I don’t love some of the ways the heroines behave. Sometimes defies common sense to the point of being frustrating. The steam is fab! The narration is excellent! Lovely voice. (Pedants’ corner: except that Emma Powell keeps saying “derriyay” rather that “derriair” for the French word derrière in which the last “r” is pronounced rather than being quasi silent as Emma Powell pronounces it. Small point but the word crops up so frequently that I kept having to shout. In the first book she’s meant to be French. That kind of small thing chips away at the believability in an audiobook.)
Otherwise it was very enjoyable. I’m not sure if I’ll pay to hear the next instalment.

Good for free, wouldn’t pay for it
The story was interesting but very predictable, in fact there were very few things that happened that was not too early foretold but the reader.
However, the narration was outstanding and I think if I had read it I would have liked it much less as the narration made the story much better. Well done Emma Powell, great narration.

Loved the story
Loved every second of the story but again, I can't say the same about the narrator. Her voice for Malcolm was awful. Also if she didn't talk in a different accent for Malcolm's voice, at times I wouldn't have been able to tell who was speaking. As he sounded like a young boy or a woman most of the time not a big powerful Scotsman. Anyway as the books are free from Audible I will still carry on with the series as I love the stories, pity about the narrator though. Thank you Audible. And thank you Sara Ramsay for the great stories.

Meh
Sadly just meh. And I can't even say if that is my mood, the narrator or the book.
But I remember not being too enthusiastic about book 1 either.
They just didn't grip me as they usually would.
So I might give up on this serious for now.
