An important contribution - but with little to say on economics
I genuinely enjoyed this listen - Kate is a wonderful science communicator and has a passion and knowledge of the subject that shines through. Her personal experiences are at the centre of this exploration of how we can break down the barriers to conversation with others about the climate crisis.
For me, as someone who has an active interest in climate justice and a just transition - there’s too much faith placed in the good will of private enterprise and tech to solve what are collective societal problems, and little or no focus or appreciation of the role of capitalism as a core cause of the crisis. But this is a marginal issue - the main contribution of this book is the importance of interpersonal communication, and in that way it’s invaluable

Antidote to climate doomism
Really enjoyed @KHayhoe's positivity in her book! It's a #climate #doomism antidote. Climate isn't a partisan issue or a national issue, it's an every person issue (except 7%ers).
NB: Katherine is a Christian and mentions this occasionally through the book. If this is something that is likely to bother you then I don't recommend you listen.

Yes! Read this!
One of the best books I have read on the topic in a long time… finds a balance between not diminishing the horror of what is happening and hope for the future… and something you can do about it without the need for molotovcocktails or barricades… and without further alienating people…
Must read!
She is an overt Christian… and references faith and church regularly… this does not make the book less powerful (the contrary I think) and in no way does she suggest hers is the only faith / way to live

An Important And Relevant Book
The bad; very USA centric, I am British, living in the Philippines and was left feeling irrelevant. I skipped through most of the first three chapters due to the religious content and cringed a few other times. The good; very valuable and interesting statistics, excellent common sense advice, nice references and relevant stories, great narration. The author is a wonderful communicator.

Fascinating listen
This was an excellent read with lots of personal anecdotes about people Katharine has spoken with over the years and the variety of people she has met. clearly she has an immense experience of communication and this comes across passionately and performed with genuine warmth.
The book does focus on the science for good reason as this is well settled (unlike another reviewer incorrectly suggests).

Essential Reading for the future
Sensible, hopeful, truthful book absolutely worth reading. Hayhoe provides a breadth of research not just from her own profession but also in terms of how best to connect with others and encourage everyone to act in the fight against climate change and unnecessary man-made destruction.
