Summary
Joining us at Audible Studios is writer and former Conservative Cabinet minister, Rory Stewart.
Rory Stewart has had a far-reaching career over a multitude of different countries and positions. Having been educated at Eton and then Oxford University, Stewart went on to join the Foreign Office where he worked primarily in military intervention and international development, serving in Jakarta and Southern Iraq. Following these postings, Stewart walked alone across Afghanistan, relying on its people to house him on his way. He consequently wrote a book about this journey, and has gone on to become a bestselling author. Stewart's political career has also been high profile, serving as a member of parliament for Penrith and The Border from 2010-2019, standing as an independent candidate for the Mayor of London and even running for Prime Minister.
We'll be talking to Stewart about his latest book, Politics on the Edge, which looks back over his ten years in the cabinet and finding out the realities of political life, the toll it takes and why we should have seen Liz Truss coming.
