About this listen
They're not machines, cyborgs, demons, or monsters, and yet they are all of those things and more. Spawned from a horrifying program of gruesome human experimentation, they walk the earth as living nightmares. For decades they served their masters by secretly manipulating world events, eliminating enemies, terrorizing humanity, and toppling nations. But then they found themselves facing the power of the Quantum Man, and the terrifying fury of his cybernetic daughter.
Broken, humiliated, and suffering the loss of a leader they once thought of as a God, The Embodied disappeared. But now they've slaughtered their former masters, moved beyond the limits of biotechnology, and set their sights on vengeance. Soon they will transcend to a state where their construction, and their rage ... will be beyond human comprehension. All living tissues will obey their commands, and they will unleash upon the earth a terrifying army of twisted abominations formed from the flesh of their victims.
But the Quantum Man still stands in their way, and he is no longer the broken soul that they once knew. More powerful than ever before, he will not allow these monsters go on murdering the innocent. So with the help of his friends from Valley Falls, a squadron of elite soldiers, and a daughter reborn as a living cybernetic weapons platform, the former mechanic intends to put a final stop to the Embodied. For the sake of every soul on earth, he will stand fast.

Love these books - brilliant story!!
Where does Rise of the Embodied rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is an amazing second book definitely in my top 5! And that top 5 list already includes the first book. Brilliant. I love the story. The characters all of them are incredible.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jacob or Jessica - who do I pick? Both are cool. I fact I really like all of their supporting characters. Even the bad guys are interesting in their own way. Especially the shadowy creator of the embodied's bodies - only hints at this person and they are interesting so I want more and the code that makes it all work. Seriously I will have to say Jacob and Jessica because they are different but I really like them both.
What does Judy Rounda bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
I really enjoyed the narration and the sound effects that are occasionally used whilst new to me (although worked in the first book also) also really add to the level of tension as they are used at the perfect moment. She manages to bring a different sense to all of the characters giving Jacob a quiet dignity and Jessica an excited energetic feel. Excellent all round!!
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The characters in the book are very likable. The story is also amazing. I was genuinely annoyed when it ended. It was amazing throughout and I wanted to carry on hearing the story unfold. Give me more!!!!

The Reason why we Buy Audiobooks
Would you listen to Rise of the Embodied again? Why?
This is the 2nd book in the series and we find despite the powers given or created by our heroes the Embodied are again on the rise with even more power than they had before. This creates a lot more action than we had previously, and yet again the Author Jason Faris shines with a level of understanding and commitment to theoretical Physics that shines through innovative tech and creative usage. The reader shall need to give a bit of effort as the action is fast paced and the usage of tech does mean that we keep on out toes, something that usually bores me but as im on my toes listening to this its all good anyways.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Unusually the shared responsibility between our two main heroes Jason/Jessica gives us a dynamic which pushes us towards a particular direction and a favourite , such is the differences between the two and the mastery of how we begin to take their story on that I constantly find myself switching between the two through chapters frequently. Even the sideline characters still shine albeit in smaller light hearted moments.
What does Judy Rounda bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
The Narration is excellent from the first book, with the increase in action and the judicious usage of special effects , the action does come straight to you that we rarely see in most audiobooks and its an absolute pleasure to listen along. 6 out of 5 if I was allowed but as it doesn't let me I shall go with an easy rewarded 5 out of 5
Any additional comments?
If I could give this over 5 and drag out the action even more I would try it but its a rare audion that I would pay full price for and I think beats the ebook copy , but for the Audio works remarkably well here. Now my biggest gripe is where is book 3 and why did this book at over 9 hours long go so quickly. As a massive fan after a recent discovery of his work the 2nd audio is a rise again from even the first book, something I wasn't sure that could happen.
A happy listener who was gifted this audio by the Author and chose to leave an honest review and as such this is my own opinion.
