About this listen
Eva and Rafe's story continues in this emotional, angsty, rockstar romance from the best-selling author of The Rixon Raiders series.
Eighteen-year-old Eva Walker knew going on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat would be complicated.
She didn’t expect to find herself torn between two brothers.
One wants her but he walked away before.
The other needs her but she doesn’t understand why.
It’s only time before the truth comes out, and when it does, nothing will be the same for Country’s newest sweetheart and the black-hearted boys of Rock.
Rise: The Interlude is the second installment of Eva and Rafe's story. The concluding book Rule: The Finale is coming soon!

My Poor Heart
My poor heart can't take anymore and there is more to this story. Eva and Rafe are fantastic characters. Levi deserves his own story, but I don't think I'm emotionally equipped just yet for either. Sarah and Michael are impeccable.

Rafe and Eva
Rafe thought he was making the right decision when he ended his relationship with Eva but now that she is coming on tour with them things are about to get very complicated.
Eva may be nervous and feeling out of her depth when it comes to performing on stage, but those feelings don’t compare to the uncertainty she feels towards the two brothers. One brother wants nothing to do with her while the other brother is doing his best to become close to her. Is there any way for this to end other than in disaster?
Rafe and Eva’s journey is filled with so much emotion and angst. We learn so much about all the characters and their motivations which leaves us wondering what the future holds for the band. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought the narrators did a great job of bringing the story to life. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

Wow the singing!
First of all I love the audio for book! I loved the surprise singing and I loved how much more I loved the book listening to it a second time!
Book 2 just wow that ending. I loved this whole book getting to know the band better and I love them all. I hope they all get a book in end. Especially Hudson and Molly they need a happy ending. Poor Levi but I just love Rafe so much. He so right for Eva and their connection is so strong. I can’t wait to see how their story ends and what happens to the Band. I hope Levi sorts himself out and start being a big brother to Rafe. Loved the dynamic of country and Rock!

Completely captivating
If you want a series to pull you in and keep you completely captivated, this is the series. This second installment of the Black Hearts Still Beat is not only entertaining, but begins to cultivate real life issues in a way that is truly evident in our society today. Eva is the warm up performer for the Black Heart Still Beats and as the new and upcoming country sensation that she is, there is a lot of buzz. She is still taken with Rafe, but she is hands off to the band members. The chemistry between them sizzles. Levi finds her intriguing too. And there are secrets, and we all know how that will end. This is a fantastic book. I love Eva! She is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is she a survivor, but she holds a love and patience that most do not have. Rafe is hard to get a read on because of the secrets he holds and the progression of Levi for me is what truly fires this installment. I am loving the dynamics and the plot, and can't wait for the next book!
The narration of this story is wonderful! I love Sarah Puckett and she portrays Eva perfectly. All the emotions that go through Eva are felt and we even get a song! Michael Norman Johnson is amazing as Rafe. He holds himself close to the heart and we are able to sense this in his narration. A couple of songs are a treat for us too! Looking forward to more!

L.A. Cotton!!! This is excellent!
I am a little bit speechless after finishing this book... I loved this book so much...
Eva has had a difficult life and at 18 she signs on to travel wiling Black Hearts Still Beat, a rock band the boy she has fallen in love with us a part of. But Rafe ghosted her in book one and she has no idea why. She goes in with trepidation because, from the time she arrives, Rafe treats her poorly. She doesn’t know what she did....
Rafe and his brother Levi also had a hard life too... But no one knows why, they’ve never shared any of it with anyone. When Rafe brought Eva to a party in book 1, Levi is drawn to her and Rafe backs off, he never tells him that Eva is his. He takes care of Levi and Levi has been a mess... the record company asks Eva to tour with them to improve their image.
What happens is hard, volatile, heartbreaking.... and will make you want more and more of these characters and their stories. I loved book one, and this one... broke me I think!!! L.A. Cotton has done such an amazing job of creating characters and situations that make you want to listen, make you want to be a part of their lives. I’m anxious for more!
Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson are fantastic for this! Couldn’t have picked better narrators!

Country’s sweetheart falls for the bad boy rocker!
Rise was such an incredible continuation of Rafe and Eva’s story! I loved how the novel dove into the industry and gave some awesome behind the scenes looks at what it’s like being on the road and touring with rockstars.
The chemistry between the two main characters continued to sizzle, despite their attempts to ignore it and remain professional. They had a connection that couldn’t be denied. I really liked how the entire band and label staff took Eva under their wing and ensured she was taken care of and safe. It was so heartwarming!
The only aspect of the story I didn’t care for was how Levi’s obvious mental illness was brushed off. It was viewed as erratic behavior due to drug and alcohol abuse. Clearly the man had deeper issues that needed to be dealt with and they weren’t. It was quite apparent that his relationship with Eva turned unhealthy very quickly due to his abandonment issues.
I can’t wait to see where this story goes, as Eva continues to become country’s sweetheart and her love for Rafe blossoms and thrives.
I thoroughly enjoyed the narration by Sarah Puckett! She portrays Eva so well! I didn’t care as much for the narration by Michael Johnson. Something about the way he voices the female characters sounded off.

This series is going from strength to strength.
I liked the first book in this series. but I loved Rise: The Interlude which sees Eva going on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat in order to remove the financial situation that her parents are in due to her cancer treatment.
This means that She has to see Rafe while trying to recover from the heartbreak that he caused. There is an element of will they won't they which is even more confused by Levi. Rafe's brothers growing bond with Eva, and the delicate balance that everyone walks to try and keep Levi stable.
We get to see different sides of the band and get to know some new characters that enrich the story.
The narration by Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson, was outstanding that I cannot fault and the singing was a perfect addition to the story.
The incredible writing and the fantastic narration really made for a wonderful listening experience.

Great continuation
Eva and Rafe story continues here, and I loved it, even though this is not the end of their journey. They really didn't had it easy, they kept fighting the chemistry between them for reasons they thought were for the best, but of course the pull is stronger and they cannot fight it anymore.
I really hurt for Levi, he's a really complex character with deep issues and I hope one day he gets his HEA.
Cannot wait for the next book because I need to know how everything is going to work out for Eva, Rafe, Levi and the band.
The narration was perfect, both Sarah Puckett and Michel Norman did a great job performing this book.

Amazing Rockstar Romance Series
Rise: The Interlude by LA Cotton is a rockstar romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson. This is the second installment in the Black Hearts Still Beat series.
All I can say is Wow! This is an amazing series and I cannot wait until Rule: The Finale is released on May 14, 2020. Lianne is an amazing write and just pulls you into the story and I cannot wait to see how everything plays out
Sarah and Michael did an amazing job on the narration. They really brought the story to life. I absolutely love the original music performance throughout the book.
I would highly recommend this series if you love Rockstar Romances.

Such a beautiful story ...
... and I haven't even listen to book 1 (so obviously works as a stand alone)
This story is so sweet and tortured L.A Cotton certainly writes a gripping, action packed bitter sweet romance. Brought to life by Sarah Puckett and Micheal Norman Johnsons narration, both awesome and work so well together!
