Inspirational story for Self-Improvement!
This audiobook is a wonderful story of recovery and redemption, a true story that is blended with a workout and health routine that can be applied to anyone who wants to get into better shape, stay healthy, and improve their life. Even though his story focuses on addiction and sobriety, this book will work for anyone ( even women addicted to sweets!) If you are trying different workout routines, but listening to audiobooks with lists of " this many reps, this many rest periods, this many protein supplements" and you are finding they don't translate well into an audiobook.... try this one! It is an interesting tale, and pleasant to listen to, AS WELL AS revealing the author's successful fitness routine.

Authentic and Bold!
Brett Grau will earn your respect as you listen to his authentic point of view on addiction and what it takes to break free in "Ripped Sober". Championing the idea of physical training as an extreme behaviour that will combat the obsessive mental patterns and physical urges of alcohol and drug addiction, Grau lays out a thoughtful and strategic new way of living to overcome and recover your life after hitting rock bottom.
Beautifully written and expertly narrated, you'll appreciate how the author shares openly about the factors and history that led to his alcohol and weed addictions and the psychological aspects of what was happening in his mind and emotions, Grau takes full responsibility for his life choices and leads the way with vulnerability before revealing the methods available to those easing their way into a new core identity as a sober person.
Topics discussed include accountability, social connections around activities that don't involve alcohol, finding balance, practical fitness routines, how alcohol affects weight and sexuality and the positive effects of "feeling sexy" and being fit, as well as types of yoga and mediation practices that will assist your recovery.
I highly, highly recommend this book! It's a quick and easy listen and very inspirational. Those who are beginning to accept that they need to make some life changes around their addictions will benefit greatly from reading/listening to it! Also recommend it to those who want to understand the behaviours and thought processes of loved ones battling addiction.

An absolute must
This book is a genuine heartfelt story of the author's struggles relating to alcohol and how he overcame them. It has been so thought provoking that it has actually made me look at a few things in my life, There are probably a lot of people in the world that could use reading this book. It is really well structured and the opening chapters are a description of his former life and how incidents involving driving under the influence and the impact this could have had on his family made him turn his life around. It gives a great insight into the dangerous, social programming alcohol has around it. Finally the steps that he or anyone can take in order to enjoy a much fuller and prosperous life without alcohol. I think I really liked this book because it is one man's real story and even offers advice/examples on how to get your life back in check if you were to find yourself in a similar situation. It's narrated in line with the seriousness of the story. Great listen

Very impressed with the authors vulnerability
First and foremost, thank you for sharing your vulnerability and journey. So many people with addiction issues hide and have shame associated with past behaviors. I believe this book will help others to open up and be honest with others and themselves. It's a hard thing to do but it is the best way to learn and grow and heal, in my opinion. As far as the book, it has wonderful information about how the author was able to move on with his life in a healthy and productive way and now he is helping others. The author shares what the addiction process is life, the recovery process for him and others and how he was able to transform his life with fitness and health. I love this book and absolutely recommend it. I look forward to other books or endeavors this author will do in the future.

Great Book.
This book is a compelling story of redemption that takes the reader on a compelling journey to sobriety. The story is emotional and gripping.
The main character's raw emotions and vulnerable state are expertly conveyed via the audiobook's evocative narration, which is skilfully performed by an actor.
The author's writing is compelling, and the narrative is loaded with sad moments that will pull at your emotions.
With an incredibly sincere narrative that is certain to strike a chord with anybody who has suffered with addiction themselves or knows someone else who has done so.
It is a demonstration of the strength of the human spirit and a gentle reminder that even in the lowest points of our lives, there is always the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.
