Summary

The hunters become the hunted in the gripping new Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers thriller from Number One bestselling author John Sandford.

‘We're going to murder people who need to be murdered.'

A group of vigilantes known only as ‘The Five' are targeting the worst of society – rapists, murderers and thieves – and they use their unlimited resources to offset the damage done by those who they've killed, donating untraceable Bitcoin to charities and victims via the Dark Web. Soon, they are the most popular figures on social media . . . but their motives may not be entirely pure.

After a woman is murdered in the Twin Cities, Virgil Flowers and Lucas Davenport are sent to investigate. The killings are smart and carefully choreographed, and with no apparent direct connection to the victims, The Five are virtually untraceable. If anyone can stop The Five, it will be Davenport and Flowers – but where will the trail lead them . . .

Poor

Didn’t think it was a patch on the original stories by Tom Clancy. This author changed the whole character of Jack junior. The narration was very good but on the whole couldn’t recommend this audio book.

Enjoyable story for a long car journey

I much prefer getting back to Lucas with or without Virgil and no domestic bliss/ help from the plucky daughter stuff. A complex plot. The political moralising was a bit annoying but generally an enjoyable listen although I never really understood why one of the main “baddies” was trusted by the others who had little in common with that baddie.

Completely gripping

The problem with John Sandfords books are that I just cannot bear to stop listening. They are so enthralling I resent having to charge my air pods. He is a brilliant story teller and the narrators are so great and life into the characters. I’m in love with Virgil and Lucas!

Another great read….

Just another great read/listen from John. I have followed these characters from the start and feel like they’re close friends. And it was good to have a cameo from Kidd!

Characters

Have read most the books based on Nigel and Lucas and it took awhile for me to accept the voices I had imagined they sounded like from reading the books but once I had it was ok and as enjoyable.

A pleasant surprise.

My first audible fiction. At the start I didn't think I'd last until the end. I was wrong, after the first chapter I was completely hooked. The gravelly narrator was perfect, again at first I thought it was too clichéd but very soon changed my mind. I'm a big fan of all Sandford Books and this one is one of the best with Lucas and Virgil together again in their great partnership.
