Summary
He seethes with raw power the first time I see him - pure menace and rippling muscles in shackles. He's dangerous. He's wild. He's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
So, I hide behind my prim glasses and my book like I always do, because I have secrets, too. Then, he shows up in the prison writing class I have to teach, and he blows me away with his honesty. He tells me secrets in his stories, and it's getting harder to hide mine. I shiver when he gets too close, with only the cuffs and the bars and the guards holding him back. At night, I can't stop thinking about him in his cell.
But that's the thing about an animal in a cage - you never know when he'll bite. He might use you to escape. He might even pull you into a forest and hold a hand over your mouth so you can't call for the cops. He might make you come so hard you can't think.
And you might crave him more than your next breath...
Praise for the book:
"Sexy, dark, and thrilling. I loved every second of it!" (The New York Times best-selling author Katie Reus)
"Dark, sexy, and intense, Prisoner is an emotional ride that does not let go until the end. I loved it!" (USA Today best-selling author Kristen Callihan)

Absolutely brilliant
I loved this storyline so much. These characters have so much going on that it keeps you on your toes. Excellent narration from both Lauren and Jacob.

Superb!😍💖
I loved this book when I read it way back when and was delighted to find this audio. And what a brilliant audio it is! The narration by Lauren Sweet and Jacob Morgan is just excellent. They both capture the essence of the characters and successfully present both male and female tones. They bring the tension and breathless pace of the story to life, creating an audio that is totally compelling. It is an intense, exciting story from start to finish, brilliantly captured and delivered. It will be an audio that I will revisit.

Good... Not great
As a relatively experienced listener of the Dark genre, I have to say that this story is more like "dimly lite" as to dark.
Oh, not to say that there isn't dark subjects, there absolutely is, but it's delivered fairly soft.
The story could have been twice as good with more background story, more "get to know" the characters.
But, with that said, it's a good story.
Narrators.
Both have great voices and give life and feelings to the story..
Only one thing to critique... The female narrator is sorly missing a masculine touch to her voice when delivering lines of male characters...

Prisoner 🖤
A well written book. A jailbreak, brings Abby and Greyson together in a dark adventure. He is a prisoner, she is his savior. Their journey has strong emotions and it’s tough. I love all Skye Warren, and paired with Annika Martin is a win win. The narrators give the story the right feelings.

Beware that this is very dark
First let me just state- there’s actual rape in this story- the hero rapes the heroine since there was no consent (She was drugged). I really enjoyed the story and their push and pull before that happened and then I was shocked at how that happened. This story is dark, but it draws you in and I still continued reading even after that part because I wanted to see what happens and because this is not real. I guess I can suspend disbelief that the lack of consent was ok because the two characters have such an attraction to each other.
But be forewarned, if you have an issue with lack of consent and can’t suspend disbelief, this will be a problem for you.
Grayson is innocent of the crime he’s being jailed for. He gets the opportunity to get a message out to his family through Abby’s writing class. She’s an unwitting victim. During the breakout, she gets caught up and becomes his prisoner. But he’s also a prisoner of his past and he did, in fact, have a horrible past. They both have to get past this horror in order to be together. Abby is young-only about 19 and still in college so it feels like this could be a nod to Stockholm syndrome.
The narrators are amazing- I love listening to Jacob Morgan and the subtle emotions he infuses into his voice really elevate the story. Lauren Sweet was also good- she has a young voice that fits Abby perfectly. She played the multiple characters well.

Intense and dark
So I made the mistake of reading book 2 in this series not realizing there was a book 1. 🙈 I LOVED book 2 so much, I HAD to go back and read the boys story.
If heavy, dark subject matter is not your thing... this isn’t your book. With that said, because of the subject matter this story is INTENSE. And fantastic.

Ok I have to say this story really sucked me in. The beginning sorta had a Prison Break feel to it. It felt new for me. I went in blind with this story (plus its been on my tbr for years and am glad its now on audio). I think I was just expecting something different to happen with the overall arc? But Im glad things turned out they way they did by the end. What I love about Skye and Annika's writing is that it was seamlessly done.
Jacob and Lauren did a great job narrating.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Prisoner
Wow. Their are some jumps as to what happens in this book, and what fun jumps they are! We have prisoners writing personal information to a prison break. And then a kidnapping that keeps your interest with all the twists and turns all the way through the end. Fantastic narration has brought this to life with so much emotion you feel as if you are there yourself.

This story will prison your heart
Book 1 in the series . Both authors wrote a story full of action , mystery and suspense. It will have you glued till the end . There was a love between both Grayson the hero and Abby the heroine was strong and all consuming A love like that saves everyone . Greyson is in prison and Abby has a school project to do , write a paper about life in prison . At first Greyson doesn’t want to take part but then he decides to take part and send a secret message to his people. That is when things really takes off .
Both Jacob Morgan, Lauren Sweet performance was good. They brought the story to life .
Thank you audio book obsession for a great listen
