Summary

Two girls sculpted by misery:

They come from two opposite worlds. Zoey: the daughter of the emperor who wants for nothing. Sophia: the daughter of a simple tribe leader who has struggled his entire life to keep enough food on the table. Despite the striking difference in their upbringing, they now find themselves thrust on a mission where the very fate of Va’siel hangs in the balance. But can Zoey and Sophia put their differences aside long enough to work together? Or will they destroy each other in the process?

Duty from the past:

She may only be 17 years old, but Sophia Uckaleck has already risen as the leader of her tribe. Knowing the injustice that her people have faced at the hands of the Shiluk royals, she wishes for nothing more than to secede from the capital city. Before that, however, she must travel far from home and discover the longtime mystery of her disappearing tribesmen. A mystery that will take her to the very heart of the Onaga menace!

Unrest is brewing. And Sophia is ready to do her duty for her people. But will she be able to let go of the ghosts of the past to save the uncertain future?

A quest for redemption:

When the Rohads defeated the Suteckh Empire and Shal-Volcseck at Missea, the entire world breathed a sigh of relief - a sigh that has now had the life choked out of it. For beyond the empire’s walls travelers bring disturbing stories. A new menace is stirring in the dark pits of Va’siel: The Onagas.

Unlike Princess Zoey, most in the kingdom consider the Onagas as nothing more than the fancy of an overly imaginative mind. Trapped in this world of inaction, Zoey has to make a choice: Obey her father and watch the world perish. Or go against her family and become the very traitor she had sworn to destroy.

Together with a girl who wants nothing more than see her dead and a legendary warrior from the Missean war, Zoey just may be able to live long enough to discover the dark history her family has hidden from her - a history washed in blood.

A fallen hero:

His enemies.

His admirers.

The entire world thinks him gone.

Hidden in the shadows, a fallen hero seeks to make amends for his past failure.

A failure that threatens to bring an end to the world.
