Summary
Cameron wants to make one thing clear: He didn't come into the festival to find a dragon mate.
Germany is supposed to be an escape. With a new mechanical engineering degree, a new job looming, and a whole life planned out that isn’t his, Germany seems like the best place for Cameron find himself. So how does he end up discovering his lost magic heritage, running from bad guys with a secret agenda, and being adopted by the not-so-extinct Fire Dragon clan?
He blames tall, dark, and sexy Alric, king of the Fire Dragons: his fated mate. Because of course he is, and mates are meant to take the blame, right? It may take a hot second, but as Cameron learns more about the scarred Alric and the life he’s landed in, he realizes that perhaps this is where he’s meant to be - magic, mates, kidnapping, and all.
Turns out Germany isn't an escape...it's his awakening.

Enjoyable
I really enjoyed listening to this book, the narrator was excellent and had a great range of voices and accents. The characters and storylines were interesting and I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.

loved it
A great start to the series. A story full of interest and characters that the reader can get attached to The only negative was the narrator's bizarre (and probably offensive) Korean accent! His German accent wandered across borders but I didn't mind that so much. Overall a great book, well worth a listen.

Great new dragon world
Loved it, great worldbuilding, interesting characters, including prominent females in positive roles, ranges of age etc. it is even set in a Germanic culture. All these uncommon in this genre ( however the bad guy? ALWAYS has a British accent! why oh why?! from a Brit) The romance was cute and awkward which was awesome. looking forward to the rest of the series. Joel Leslie is fabulous as always, his name on something is now a mark of quality for me in audiobookland.

Lots of potential
The author has a great story drive, interesting twists and a decent plot but seems to lack some of the key elements to tell said story. I've enjoyed it very much but the language is very basic for someone who wants to write for adults. It seems the author hasn't heard of a thesaurus and, honestly, has used one or two words incorrectly. It's possible that the author isn't a native English speaker and/or this book has been translated into American English. Sometimes it's a bit of a struggle to read bc the author goes on a lot about the bond of mates and about the feelings of the characters for each other. It's very repetitive in that regard. I've heard so many times about how they've never felt this way about anyone else. I get it. I'm in a relationship too but I'd really appreciate it if someone unalived me if I went on about it the way these two do. There's been moments where I almost didn't finish it due to the repetitive nature of their inner monologues.

Couldn’t finish this book
Could not finish this book. The accents were horrible and took away from what could have been an interesting story.
