About this listen

When a local man, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, goes missing, his parents have good reason to be concerned. Emily Willows is a friend of the family and says that she knows just the person to find him - and, as Summer Lane soon points out, the fact that this also fits in with Emily's plan to set up her very own detective agency is surely just a fortuitous coincidence.

But it isn't long before the former detective inspector finds herself on a train heading back to London, and back into situations that she thought she had left behind. Some old acquaintances are renewed, and some difficult memories must be confronted as Lane searches for the missing soldier and discovers the shocking truth about what happened to him five years earlier.

Good listen!

Ok, the narrators Scottish accent is awful but the story is good, plot good too…enjoyed this one and will wait for the next one with my credit!

Not convinced

I love the DC Smith series so I was looking forward to more by this author and this is the second Willows and Lane series that I have listened to . The book is well written in that I enjoyed the narrative but just wasnt convinced by the story line. The two main characters are not vey likeable and the story is not really believable or original. Its possible that it would be better if the narrator was better but even then i dont think i would listen to any more of this series. Shame.

Another winner!

Another brilliant binge worthy story from Peter Grainger. The narration was a lot better in this book than the last.

A little predictable

I do not enjoy this set of characters as much as this authors other books. This may be because I don't much like the narration. The narrator repeated small sections of the book a couple of times as if she were not listening to herself and there were a couple of words she either did not understand or had never heard before. Perhaps it's just me but poor narration spoils a book for me anyway. I think I might have enjoyed the book more with a different narrator.

very fast and exciting

Peter Grainger is one of most gifted and consistent writers I've ever come across and this one keeps up the standard. I was sceptical about the reader but I'm settling in with her now . looking forward to more.

Looking forward to more

I’ve started to enjoy this series so hope there are more books on the way. My only criticism is the narrator is hopeless at accents which I found quite t irritating at times.

Please let there be more

I loved the book but I hope this is not the last in the series …. The ending left me guessing about that. Beautifully crafted with tons of potential for more - so, more please!
