Summary

On the Lee Shore is the third book in the Alexander Clay series.

Newly promoted to Post Captain, Alexander Clay returns home from the Caribbean to recover from wounds sustained at the Battle of San Felipe. However, he is soon called upon by the Admiralty to take command of the frigate Titan and join the blockade of the French coast. But the Titan will be no easy command with its troubled crew that had launched a successful mutiny against its previous sadistic captain. Once aboard, Clay realises he must confront the dangers of a fractious crew, rife with corrupt officers and disgruntled mutineers, if he is to have a united force capable of navigating the treacherous reefs of Brittany's notorious lee shore and successfully combating the French determined to break out of the blockade.

On the lee shore

if ever you wished to be a mariner , in the 16th/17th century, this is for you, Although the food was much better than the French, conditions made their calling hard. This work of fiction puts one in the middle of all the social, military and religious, way of life. The beliefs of the time, trying to make any promotion of individuals, without rank or social position, was hazardous with social predeceased only for the strongest or the most skillful. Good to listen to, making one look forward to the next volume

Who decided this narrator did a good job

Like the first 2 books the narrator is awful and makes parts of it a really hard listen sometimes with accents so bad it's laughable. Such a shame as the story itself is worthy of a decent narration with flow and a modicum of ability. Really very sad
