Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of On the Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back, written and read by Stacey Dooley.

Put yourself in their shoes.

In 2007, Stacey Dooley was a 20-something working in fashion retail. She was selected to take part in the BBC series Blood, Sweat and T-Shirts, which saw her live and work alongside Indian factory workers making clothes for the UK high street. This sparked her series of hugely popular investigations, establishing her as one of BBC3's most celebrated presenters.

Through the course of her documentary making, Stacey has covered a variety of topics, from sex trafficking in Cambodia to Yazidi women fighting back in Syria. At the core of her reporting are incredible women in extraordinary and scarily ordinary circumstances - from sex workers in Russia to victims of domestic violence in Honduras.

In her first audiobook, On the Front Line with the Women Who Fight Back, Stacey draws on her encounters with these brave and wonderful women, using their experiences as a vehicle to explore issues at the centre of female experience. From gender equality and domestic violence to sex trafficking and sexual identity, Stacey weaves these global strands together in an exploration of what it is to be women in the world today.

Loved it! I've been a fan of stacey's documentaries for many years and her work is so important to giving these women a voice. She's done it beautifully

Deeply insightful and Perfectly written

What an intuitive book. Deeply insightful, pointing out things that would not be known about or spoken about. Informing the world of the darker parts, to encourage help and support.

Harrowing but amazing

Stacey Dooley is a beautiful human being. Her work has been astonishing and she has helped so many people. This book is both astonishing and incredibly harrowing at the same time. Thank heavens Stacey narrated it herself as the emotion really comes through. I am now watching some of the documentaries that she talks about in each chapter and they are truly horrific. What an amazing woman and what an astonishingly awful exposé of what is going on around the world that, otherwise, we may never hear about. Massively recommended, but do realise it's shocking content and harrowing details in many places throughout.

Exceptional

This is a great book. I often find that the narrator makes or breaks an audiobook, Stacey read it so well, she keeps you engaged throughout. It has been a real eye opener for me.

A true inspiration

Everyone must read or (ideally) listen to Stacey narrate this book. The stories are harrowing, thought provoking and she's dead honest. everyoone should hear what Stacey has to say. she's an incredible woman who talks so elequently, compassionately and challenges thinking about so many different issues in the world. I'm actually going to miss hearing her voice a little!

Great read!

Well what a fantastic read! Stacey Dooley reads this book herself which is great. It’s like having her in the room with you talking on a 1:1 basis!

Incredible book

Incredible book, taking you deep into the lives of women across the world who are over coming horrific barriers and experiences just to survive. A real eye opener and an important piece of work. The reading of it is compassionately and articulately presented by Stacey Dooley herself. Can't recommend enough.

Brave Woman!!!

Firstly, you can't beat any book being read by the author. For me it's one of the main things I look for when choosing my next book, and i can honestly say Staceys performance of this was executed very well. The people she met doing various research and interviews around the world meant Stacey was put into very hostile and dangers environments. A very brave and courageous woman who has a lust for the truth and great compassion for others which you could clearly hear in her voice when reciting her findings. It has certainly opened my eyes to various happenings to woman and children in different parts of the world and Stacey herself seemed to struggle reading some of the child sex/ child prostitution chapters due to the nature of them...as did I listening to them.
Over all , Stacey adds a little about herself growing up but this is NOT an autobiography. This is a very interesting account of her travels to meet and interview woman who are imprisoned , prostitutes, fighting against Isis and of course children being abused in many ways.
