About this listen
When Xander Santos is left at the altar, he can't even drown his woes in alcohol. Newly single, newly pregnant, and facing down a future of single parenthood, he sneaks away from his friends and hits the bar anyway...for a cup of juice. If he can't drink, then at least he can have a moment alone to gather his thoughts.
Teacher Kent Coker is also facing a future without a loved one. He's only in town to settle his late mother's estate and clean out the piles upon piles of junk she left behind. Meeting his former student at a bar is a bit of serendipity, and after his shock at Xander's blatant come-on abates, Kent is only too happy to play the balm to Xander's bruised ego.
There was never supposed to be anything more than one wild night between them. But with Kent planning to stay in town for several more months, and the initial passion between them melting into a true, genuine affection, it's hard to stay away from one another.
There are only two problems: Kent doesn't plan to stay in town forever - and Xander's ex wants back into his life. Will Kent and Xander's fragile new love be worth the cost of fighting for it?
Carter’s Crossing is a quaint little town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where some people go to get away, others arrive to start over, and plenty just find themselves when they’re lost or broken-hearted. This contemporary mpreg series is for adults only and is sure to leave you believing in the magic of true love and happily-ever-afters, and every audio book can be listened to in any order!

A student’s fantasy...
Xander was left at the altar, alone and pregnant. To drown his sorrows, he finds professor Coker. Kent is the hot teacher everyone lusted after in school. Now he is back in Carter’s Crossing. Their chemistry is proven off the charts but will Kent be there after the fact or is he only the rebound guy? Lots of misunderstandings, lots of love and protection and lots of sexy times. Another worth listening romance for the Carter’s Crossing series.

Heartwarming
This is a heartwarming story Xander has just been left at the alter while pregnant and he sees his old teacher Mr Cocker so he decides to follow his fantasy. They have stuff to deal with but start a friendship with benefits and later. Xander’s ex comes back which causes some problems as he decides he has to be on his own. But soon realises that the reasons he can’t be with Kent are not really problems.

Another in the series for one of my favourite authors, I have this whole series of books and enjoyed following the story about Carter's Crossing. You made the place come to life and the towns folk real, keep up the good work

Satisfying listen
I haven't listened to the first 2 books in the Carter's Crossing series, but I had no problem with this as a standalone. I have a fondness for teacher and (former) student stories, and this is a winner. Both men come with complications. Kent has just lost his mother and is riddled with guilt at his "abandonment" of her. Xander has been jilted at the altar and is pregnant. Their passion is immediate, but the real story is in how they work through their issues to reach a satisfying conclusion. As usual, the writing by Aiden Bates is excellent.
I am so used to an American accent that it took me a while to realise that the narrator is British! Anyway, being from the UK, I immediately fell in love with Joseph Bader's voice which is both clear and persuasive.
