A fantastic collaboration by two Grimdark Lords

A brilliant bloody fantasy crime thriller, and brilliant collaboration by two of my favourite Grimdark Lords of fantasy Michael R Fletcher and Clayton W Snyder. The worldbuilding is excellent, plot and setting reminds me of a post world war two russian theme feel to it with unique magic system thrown into the mix. From the authors previous books that I have read and so recently, I knew they weren't gonna hold back on grisly and bloody aspects of their writing. This story flows beautifully and with a mix of thier prose together, its a wonderful gem that they have come up with. Norylska is a industrial cesspit of a city, run and ruled by the mafia families and patrolled by the secret police called the Militsiya. Our two main protagonist lead two very different lives (literally). Katyushka Leonova (Kat) lives a dreary life with her boyfriend has been conscripted into the secret police, Genndy Antonov (Gen) a veteran from the war has just lost his job has conscripted into the gangster family business. When both are giving memory stones, they're lives change and the brutality of the underbelly of Norylska is revealed. Brutal, dark and full of twists, if you're a fan of the two authors mentioned above or looking for something new, I very highly recommend...🖤💀🔥😁

Grime Dark!

This book gives you a feeling of being constantly smothered in grime and dirt whilst trying to survive in a dystopian Russia, at first I found the narrator a bit annoying but then slowly I got into the story and found the narration enjoyable, it’s a horrible story of horrible people in a horrible world doing absolutely awful things to each other, the premise was good, the story was told superbly and dare I say it… I actually cared for the 2 main characters 😱 would I recommend this book? To children no to everyone else absolutely.
I loved the library scene 😂😂
