Summary
It's 1992 and Los Angeles is burning.
Noah Valentine, the owner of Pinx Video in Silver Lake, notices the fires have taken their toll on fellow shopkeeper Guy Peterson's camera shop. After the riots end, he decides to stop by Guy’s to pick up his overdue videos, only to find Guy’s family dividing up his belongings. He died in the camera store fire, or did he?
Noah and his charmingly meddlesome downstairs neighbors begin to suspect something else might have happened to Guy Peterson. Something truly sinister.
The first in a new series from Lambda Award-winner Marshall Thornton, Night Drop strikes a lighter tone than the Boystown Mysteries, while bringing Silver Lake of the early 1990s to life.

New narrator to me...
Loved the dry, almost dark humour [Mr Crispy 😏], but thought the mystery could've been a little better to be honest. The narrator is fairly ordinary with not much distinction between voices, but Louis is my fave character so far and Noah's revelation at the end was not totally unexpected. Hope he can put those nasty friends of his former boyfriend in their place in the next story.

Good story & great narrator
If you enjoy the traditional murder /mystery novels (there are 4 suspects from the start & one of them is the murder) you will really enjoy it. The narrator is really good and his voice fits with the the age of the characters. Also, if you happened to be a teenager in the late 80s/ early 90s you will have fun with all the pop culture references.
