Much needed with my mum and her dementia
This audible was really needed. I was suffering alot lately with not knowing what the best course of action was for my Mum who was recently diagnosed with dementia. My dad is still fine and can look after her but she was always the one to look after him and I wanted to find something that could give me more ideas and a strategy to help my mum as well as my dad. This audible was well structured, taking you through logical steps to helping your parents and the chapter on avoiding burnout was really eye opening - a must listen for anyone in this position. This audible has left me feeling confident that we can put a plan in place that will help ease the pain and suffering of my mum whilst giving my dad some comfort as well. Highly recommended.

“Overwhelmed” to “Organized”
I am moving to the US to live with my parents and take care of them. I got this book to equip me for that. I definitely find the content very useful as I am not familiar with the healthcare system in the US.
I love that this well-researched (and well-narrated) book teaches strategies to avoid burning out yet, get things done smartly while maintaining compassion for your ageing loved ones and to your own self as well.
The idea that I find useful yet never thought of it is to look for a housemate for your parents to not only make extra money from the rent to cover expenses but also provide your parent’s opportunity for more companionship, which greatly improves their well-being.
If you find caregiving overwhelming at the moment, this book will make it easy for you from health care to paper works to money talks to siblings' harmony to living arrangement to providing the best care while using the community’s and your own resources wisely, which you might not even know you have. And there's more to learn from this audiobook that I cannot outline here.
Oh, the bonus PDF is well appreciated! I could definitely share it with my siblings too.

Important guide to help you think about caring for your parents
This was a welcome guide.
This is such a difficult topic and sometimes it’s easy to try to avoid thinking about it or going into caring for a parent from a purely emotional standpoint that you forget to work out the practicalities.
I loved how the author said that it’s important that caring for yourself is important to preserve your own mental and physical well being so you can effectively care for your parent.
I love the section on tips of how to organise yourself as this can be one of the most challenging apart from the emotional and financial strain.
Good book. Good listen.

Life Saver!
The most attractive part of this book for me is the care giver burnout. I absolutely love my job and my parents, but lately i have felt the burn out coming more and more.
The overwhelming amount of tasks that need to be done daily can turn my passion into dread with out the right skills and mindset.
Thankfully some one took the time to write a book with an understanding of what I'm going through.
My biggest problem was organization, i didn't even know where to begin. The author provides a handy checklist to help me gather tools and supplies and keep it all organized within a schedule.
The next very important aspect of caring for loved ones is the boundaries of your personal time and life. Without this line drawn very clearly, you can easily become burnt out constantly caring for others and not your self!

A manual for every caregiver
As a caregiver myself I was looking forward to this book. It did not disappoint. I was very pleased to see that the author has personal experience of caregiving and is not presenting an academic view. The material is deeply impactful and authentic, inspiring and compassionate, empathetic and professional.
I am particularly impacted by Bonus Chapter 8: Caregiver Burnout and How to Address It. Though I don’t feel burnout at the moment I feel fortunate to have this information at this point so that I will be able to identify it, avoid it, or address it if that becomes necessary. I think every caregiver will benefit from this book and particularly from the above-mentioned chapter which will enable them to prioritize their self-care so that they can keep fit and healthy to perform their wide-ranging roles including that of caring for a relative.
