One happy couple.

Two divided families.

A wedding party to die for.

On the private island of Castle Fiore - surrounded by the glittering waters of Lake Garda - the illustrious Heywood family gathers begrudgingly for their son Laurence's wedding to Italian influencer Eva Bianchi.

But as the ceremony begins, a blood-curdling scream brings the proceedings to a devastating halt.

With the wedding guests trapped as they await the police, old secrets come to light and family rivalries threaten to bubble over.

Everyone is desperate to know...

Who is the killer?

And can they be found before they strike again?

Critic reviews

A clever, classy and captivating murder mystery that keeps you guessing through each devilish twist (Chris Whitaker)
No one does murder better than Tom Hindle. Murder on Lake Garda is a twisty, twisted who-dun-it that keeps you guessing until the final page. And it’ll make you desperate to book a holiday to Italy, despite all the killing and intrigue. Essential (Adam Simcox)
A fast paced, twisty tale of glamour, intrigue and murder on the shores of Lake Garda. With enough red herrings to keep even the most ardent armchair detective puzzled, this is one wedding invitation you’ll want to accept (Fiona Leitch)

Top tier - best yet

Have been equally as impressed with every book from Hindle so far. It is a perfect read for someone who wants something light but also with enough complexity to keep you stimulated. Really looking forward to his next release

Easy read but predictable!

Didn’t particularly dislike, easy to read and get into but the story was fairly predictable and characters hard to engage with.

A Moden Day Agatha Christie

A 'Cosy' Murder. Small island that no one can leave. The guests, most of them disliking the murdered victims, a modern day Agatha Christie. But a lot easier to solve.

Annoying narration

Written by a man, male voice would have been better. Bit repetitive, nothing like as good as Tom Hindle’a last two, highly enjoyable, books. Felt this was lazy.

Too many red herrings

Disappointing. A good idea made over-complicated and let down by the willingness of the characters to suspect each other when in fact it was obvious almost from the start who the murderer was. The narrator’s voice was grating which did not help.

Surprisingly good after the first few chapters, so be patient

Really good story which keeps you wanting to know more. The twists and turns are thought through. Very well read too.

Dreadful

Poor plot. Too many coincidences. Incredulous aspects such as how do two uninvited guests attend a very small wedding? Terrible similes. The only saving grace was the imagery of Lake Garda. So glad to get to the end of (was for my Book Club so persevered). Don’t believe the hype that Tom Hindle is the new Agatha Christie.

Not terrifying enough to put me off taking a holiday at lake Garda

Maybe I’d have overlooked the formulaic, linear characters, the missing nuggets of intrigue (what was THE THING about HMC?) and repetitive ‘she took a breath’ prose if the author hadn’t compared themselves to Agatha Christie. I kept waiting for that clever Christie-esque twist. Suffice to say, having finished the book… I’m still waiting.

Great narration, a bit earnest maybe, but, well… why not ham this one up!
