About this listen
A daring CIA operation threatens chaos in the Kremlin. Its execution is foiled by a Russian woman with secret loyalties.
CIA operatives Sia and Max enter Russia to recruit Vladimir Putin's moneyman. Sia works for a London firm that conceals the wealth of the super-rich. Max's family business in Mexico - a CIA front since the 1960s - is a farm that breeds high-end racehorses. They pose as a couple, and their targets are Vadim, Putin's private banker, and his wife Anna, who is both a banker and an intelligence officer. As they descend further into a Russian world dripping with luxury and rife with gangland violence, Sia and Max's hope may be Anna, who is playing a game of her own.
Careening between the horse ranch and the dark opulence of Saint Petersburg, Moscow X is both a gripping thriller of modern espionage and a daring work of political commentary on the conflict between Washington and Moscow.

Narration is horrendous
The narration is at times unintelligible - his attempt at tSouth African accent is frankly embarrassing and very hard to understand anything he’s attempting to say in a Russian accent, for the rest of the time his voice sounds like it’s on fast forward and I’m not sure he’s ever read a book before. This guy really ruins what is a good story. If you are easily annoyed by terrible narration don’t purchase this audiobook

Really enjoyed it
I was worried about the narration because of other reviews, but I didn’t find it bad at all. Okay the South African accent wasn’t perfect but it didn’t ruin it for me at all

A bit long winded and irritating narration
I wish narrators would stop persisting with accents they can’t do! The hopeless South African accent in this story detracts from the character and spoils the story. The story itself is interesting although a bit long winded. 50 pages less and it would have been better

Desperate narration.
Just tell the story, avoid the unnecessary verbal ticks and have a go at better training for international accents. Sorry pal, but you’re not contributing to a good story.

Some authentic details
A bit too predictable and no likeable characters. Good pace but accents awry during the narration. South African and Russian indistinguishable

excellent contemporary spy story
A gripping modern day espionage triller. great character development. not too 'goodies and baddies' Both sides are messy and ambivalent. South Afican accent is difficult for the best of narrators , but I could get over it and remained in the story .

Quite entertaining but I was ultimately disappointed
The narrator was good but his English and South African accents were terrible which I found rather distracting

Fascinating look, even if fictional, at the inner workings and endemic corruption in Russia’s elite. However, the accents!
I totally understand that it’s hard to narrate a book rich with many nationalities and their individual accents, but oh my goodness some of the accents and pronunciations in this reading were bad. The South African accent in particular was so hard to listen to I nearly gave up. It was only the pace of the story that kept me going. Sounded like the poor narrator was reading with a mouthful of marbles.
Good thriller though.
