Summary

Ingenious. Incredible. Invisible. My name is Budo. I have been alive for 5 years, a very long time for someone like me to be alive. MAX gave me my name. Max is 8 years old. He is the only human person who can see me. I know what Max knows, and some things he doesn't. I know that Max is in danger. And I know that I am the only one who can save him. Told from the point of view of a child's imaginary friend, this is a heartwarming story of love and loyalty, perfect for anyone who ever had a friend... real or otherwise.

A bit different

A lovely tale told by an imaginary friend, well narrated. If you had an imaginary friend as a child, it takes you right back to when you lived in your imagination. The end part was a little drawn out and repetitive, but it had a good ending. Not my best read of 2021, but a good read nonetheless and worth a try if you want something different.

Intriguing

It was hard to get into but then kept me engaged to the end. sad and poignant - entered the world of emotions experienced by people affected by mental health issues.

Loved it

Such a lovely story and such a good idea that the tables are turned and the story is told through the eyes of the imaginary friend. Don't be put off through the first few pages, they do appear slow and slightly boring but the story picks up pace soon after and they are a necessary introduction. Well worth listening to in my opinion.

Quirky and fascinating well considered story

I really enjoyed this book. I was reading it in book form, but found I had to undertake some mind numbing tasks at work and decided to get the audio version to listen to at the same time; I needed to know what happened next. The author has created a well thought out world. It's quirky and fascinating and worth listening to just for that. On top of that it has an interesting plot and a suitable ending. I would definitely recommend it.
