Summary
Mail Order Lottery: Ruth Takes a Chance is about an independent woman from New York who wants more than anything to move out west, become a ranch hand, and earn enough money to buy her own farm. She corresponds privately with a man who explains that she could join him at a lottery mixer put on by a company who arranges marriages, but that they would have an advantage in that he could let her know who he was, and with any luck at all they would be matched up.
