Summary
From author and illustrator Sophie Lucido Johnson comes Love Without Sex, a fascinating three-part Audible Original that explores nontraditional relationships and shows how breaking down stereotypes and misconceptions around love can help us all build stronger, healthier connections to one another.
In our culture, the rom-com boy-meets-girl romantic set up is by and large the most persistent love story. And there’s nothing inherently wrong with a monogamous relationship, of course - but the truth is, this structure is just one sliver of a big, complicated, messy, beautiful spectrum of the ways that people are living and loving today. So, where are all of the love stories that don’t fit into the boy-meets-girl mold? Who wrote these rules, and why are we all following them?
Told in three parts, Love Without Sex explores:
- The “mononormative” culture we all live in and how it came to be
- True stories of nontraditional romance and family structure
- Asexuality and its implications on our understanding of love
Combining her personal experience with expert research and interviews with fascinating people who are “loving outside the lines” in their own ways, Johnson shows how love can stretch beyond traditional ideas of romance and sex to enrich our lives. This groundbreaking Audible Original will educate and entertain, proving that a broader understanding of love can benefit us all; from married couples, to young people stumbling through the ever-changing dating scene, and beyond.

A beautiful, thoughtful look into relationships.
The author Sophie has a wonderful view of what love can be and how it can intersects with many types of relationships from friends, found/choice family to casual and lifelong partners.
The book has a strong focus on non-monogamous relationships to be begin and it stay a theme throughout but as I continue ideas of in monogamy may sometime rely on one person for all your emotional, physical and mental well-being, which most leave that person exhausted, we should instead rely on a friends and choice family as well for your needs, as they should rely on us. This move into the idea of how love can take many forms with in our personal communities. There are many more ideas shared with in this book, each as thoughtful as the last.
I am trans and have be in a long time partnership with someone who is ace so to see asexual community be shown with complexity that they contain, was thrilling as well that showing them within fulfilling complex relationship warmed me heart.

Love without sex
A great discovery of types of relationships that have several meanings and discernment of social physiological make-up. The testimonies are real examples of the struggles and identity of human gender definitions in our anatomical world. A good audio for better appreciation of gender identity.

Enjoyed it
I enjoyed this book but wasn't blown away. I felt it glossed over obvious things like sometimes when people live together they do NOT get on... But this book would make it seem like polyamory is a utopia where everyone gets along. I get the pros to it, I really do, but I feel like it is viewed with rose tinted glasses.
