About this listen
Sarrinah and David are both flawed and suffering but so in need of each other. If only they can get over the tragedies of their past that are weighing them down...and the fact that one of them is a ghost.
Five years after losing the love of his life, David stuns the world with an announcement that he is quitting: He will no longer continue creating his beautiful sculptures. For years now, he has ignored his guilt by laboring at a frenetic pace, but his work can no longer keep his unhappiness at bay. The time has come for healing - if he can - and he thinks an isolated 150-year-old mansion in the country is just the place to start.
He moves to the grand old house with high hopes, but when he hears a disembodied feminine voice speaking to him, he begins to seriously worry about his mental state...especially since he feels an undeniable attraction to her.
When David wakes her with his invasion of her home, Sarrinah does not at first understand she is a ghost. When her true nature becomes obvious to her - as well as the details of her tragic death - she fills her days with weeping over her miserable fate.
Startled that David seems to be able to hear her, she begins conversing with him in the hopes of convincing him to leave her house so that she can return to the mindless oblivion she achieves when no life force is nearby.
As the months pass and their conversations progress, she realizes two things: that David is becoming more and more distressed by his worries for his own sanity and that she has fallen in love with the dear man and no longer wants him to leave.
This sweet romance is part contemporary/part historical romance, spiced with a dash of humor and a love of food.

I Enjoyed It - My first book by this author
This is my first book by this author and as if that isn't enough of a challenge I don't really listen to or read Ghost Stories but the cover and the blurb for this book intrigued me so much I decided to listen to the audio version. I am so glad I did, it is a well-written story which is beautifully paced with good descriptive writing.
The two main characters are David a sculptor trying to get over long-term grief and Sarrinah, a woman who died in the Victorian era and happens to haunt the old mansion house he has just moved into. Both have troubled pasts that won't allow them to move forward their story is one of heartbreak, healing, and romance. These two characters connect on a deeply personal level, which feels natural and compelling and for a change from most romantic stories their connection does not rely on the sexually explicit scenes in order to hold the listener's attention.
The plot itself is simple and uncomplicated, involving a love triangle and a villain who is just too predictable, that said I enjoyed this story probably because the “ghost lore” provided by the author is wonderfully simple and allows the listener to completely suspend belief.
This story really grabbed me by the heartstrings it was so sweet and simple I loved both the characters and their stories, both before they met and afterwards. The story though sad at times is told with humour, and romance and has a timeless feel to it, truly memorable and one I will listen to again.
The narration is by Davyne DeSye the author of the book, I did wonder if a professional narrator would have been better as not all writers can narrate but having listened to her performance I have to say it was first class, she nailed it.
I was given the audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Loved the narration of Davyne DeSye
David, is from the 21st century man who has moved into a historical mansion. Unknown to him but he soon releases that the mansion is haunted by the ghost of Sarrinah who died in the Victorian era. Problem is she is does not know she has passed. David and Sarrinah have troubled pasts . We have heartbreak, healing, and romance.
