Summary

Carly Day is on a mission: Make amends to her grown children and everyone else she’s hurt over the years. When she returns to Lilac to help care for her first grandchild, she quickly realizes that just because she’s sorry doesn’t mean folks are ready to forgive. Even Pete Warfield, her son-in-law’s uncle, keeps her at arms’ length, as if he’s afraid she’ll run off again. How can she prove she’s turned her life around?

More knowledgeable about carburetors than car seats, Pete Warfield should have his head examined for agreeing to help take care of a three-month-old baby. After a short marriage decades before, Pete’s been happy with his bachelor existence. That is, until Carly Day returns to town. Working with her around the clock to care for his grandnephew has him wishing for things he thought he didn’t want. Like love and a family of his own.

A simple story line but an engrossing listen

This is a very simple story of an estranged mother returning to her grown children but it draws you in and you become engrossed in it and you find yourself rooting for her success. A good story.

Just because God forgives doesn’t mean everyone will!

When Carly day comes back to lilac, she knows it will not be an easy road. She abandoned her five children looking for excitement and adventure and when it was all set and done what you needed the most was her family. Her son Brooke has convinced her to come back and help Rio her daughter who just gave birth. Rios husband jacks uncle Peter is there. Jack is traveling to do training for a promotion and his uncle Peter is there helping Rio. He knows next to nothing about babies and when Carly shows up Rio is angry and Peter is even angrier. Not only because little Sean is the closest he’ll ever have to a grandson and he is protective, but because once years ago call Lee also left him. Will be up or be able to make amends good day at the very least be friends if not a family? This book was so good I am so addicted to these Lilac books whether they be the historical or the contemporary. They are so very good I thought Stephanie did an awesome job with the narration and I can’t wait to get to the next one. I highly recommend this to any contemporary romance then. There is so much to love about this book not just the romance but the family issues the author tends to blend the problems in the romance together authentically and it makes for an awesome read. Please forgive the grammatical or punctuational errors, I am blind and dictate my review but all opinions are my own

Go Team Sean!

This was an enjoyable short read, just 81 pages, or 2hrs 15mins of listening time, well narrated by Pamela Ferguson.
It can be hard to get totally invested in a novella, given the short time we have to get to know the characters, but this was well paced and involved me from the start.

Carly Day is a terrible mother. She has had several children with several husbands and didn't stay around to raise any of them. Now she has decided to attempt to build bridges, but it's not going to be easy. Her daughter has a three month old baby, Sean, and needs help for a month while her husband goes away from home on a training course and she recovers from severe back pain. When Carly arrives, the only help is being given by Pete, an uncle, who's definitely in over his head.

'Team Sean', must all pull together to get through the month before the husband returns and they can relax.

This was a somewhat moral novella, with a religious element, with Carly being given help and advice from a pastor in her home town.
My only issue with the book was the use of two very similar names - Carly day and Kelly, Pete's girlfriend - rather confusing when listening rather than reading.
