About this listen
In this engaging, inspiring, and educational Holocaust survivor memoir, Ben Lesser invites listeners to revisit a time in history when the world went mad. Learn how this ordinary, young Jewish teenager from Krakow, Poland, survived through extraordinary times living in ghettos, enduring four concentrations camps -- including Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Dachau -- two death marches, and two death trains. After liberation from Dachau, the Holocaust survivor slowly healed, eventually recovering physically from his near-death experience. At age 18 – penniless, uneducated, and unable to speak English – he made his way to the USA and succeeded in living the American Dream.
One of the most important rags-to-riches biographies by Holocaust survivors, as a teacher, bearing witness to the past and teaching students of all ages the important values of tolerance, democracy, respect for human dignity, and decency. Ben's determination to achieve his dreams—despite horror and tragedy—is a harrowing nonfiction account of his life that will inspire you to achieve your own dreams.
Narrated in part by actor/producer/director Jonathan Silverman, Son of Rabbi Hillel Silverman and grandson of Rabbi Morris Silverman. "I am honored to help share the remarkable story of this remarkable man. Ben Lesser is a survivor in every sense. The important message of Ben's journey is Zachor: Remember. I will never forget my time with Ben, working together to help make this incredible audio book come to life, for present and future generations."

The atrocities in such detail made me feel like I was seeing it through the author's eyes.
I have nothing to report, there was nothing to dislike about this book, it was written.
