About this listen
READ BY THE AUTHOR
When we learn, we change what we believe and how we interact with the world. This changes who we are as people and what we can achieve.
Many people grow up being told they are ‘not a maths person’ or perhaps ‘not smart’. They come to believe their potential is limited.
Now, however, the latest science has revealed that our identities are constantly in flux; when we learn new things, we can change our identities, increase our potential and broaden our capacity to receive new information.
Drawing from the latest research, Professor Boaler followed thousands of school students, studied their learning practices and examined the most effective ways to transform pupils from low to high achievers. Throughout her study, Boaler has collaborated with Stanford University neuroscience experts, harnessing their expertise to reinforce her advanced understanding of learning and educational development.
In Limitless Mind, Boaler presents original groundbreaking research that proves that limiting beliefs really do hold us back from fulfilling our potential and that with a few careful life hacks we can transform our potential for good.

An aspiring teacher
A very informative listen, it really helped me think of mathematics differently. I see now that in struggle your brain grows and you learn so much.

Important and insightful
A very important and insightful book. Especially relevant for anyone with kids. Maths is a key competency in today’s world. A lot of kids and adults lock themselves out of it due to preconceptions and misconceptions that this book helps dispel.
The other aspect tackled by the book, is the crippling fear of making mistakes that ends up limiting both children and adults in what they can achieve. The book shows well how “it is ok to make mistakes as long as you learn from them” and how and why this can be super empowering and a force for good and growth.

Brilliant. So brilliant.
This book has inspired me. I never thought that maths teaching would be a vehicle for my own holistic life growth. I listen to this book every time I run. I love it.

Good lessons and interesting anecdotes
Interesting book with valuable lessons my only problem is that the author tends to veer off on tangents occasionally but always loops it back round to the point being made, funnily enough similar teaching behaviour to my maths teacher
