About this listen
More decks, more cards, more goblins!
Reborn into a world of magic, Gareth saved his adopted home from the ravages of their ancient enemy. Not that anyone noticed. Whilst the city rebuilds, Gareth turns his attention towards a new goal, the upcoming grand tournament!
If he’s going to compete Gareth will need to get stronger. That means taking on more quests, earning more levels, and discovering powerful new cards for his deck. Along with his friends, a former goddess, a deposed demon lord and their constantly annoyed watcher, he sets off on what sounds like an easy job.
Nothing on Acamida is ever as it seems. As he strives to grow stronger, Gareth will learn secrets that threaten the nature of reality itself. Meanwhile, sinister dark forces are at work within the walls of the city. To come out on top, Gareth will need to master his deck and the powerful magic it holds.

“Oh no, I am defeated!”
A really great LitRPG. Really well written with plenty to keep everyone interested; probably even better than book 1 and I really hope there’s more to come!
Great narration too, I will definitely be adding Graham to my narrator following list!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

Interesting expansion of the world in this sequel
This is not an ideal point to join this series, the first book establishes what you need to know about the deck mechanics and introduces the main characters in a manner that would ensure greater enjoyment of this book too.
What you get in this sequel is a very good mix of continuing to develop the main characters, personal growth as well as simple levelling of their decks, world-building that nicely expands the size and scope of that world for subsequent books in the series and a compelling main storyline that doesn't suffer from the need to set other things up for further sequels either.
The narrator's performance felt stronger this time round, helping to enhance my enjoyment of the book.
Overall, a good listen in it's own right and a strong addition to the series too.

An enjoyable listen
A very good follow on in an extremely interesting world. I do like the cards and deck idea. I like the goblins and the hints of personality.
The exploration aspect is excellent. I like the characters, how they interact and find them interesting. I am pleased the main character is less keen on being a hero, as being a hero has been done too many times.
Different points of view was a good idea and chance of pace. I liked the humour to.
The narrator is perfect for this type of story.
I look forward to the next book.

Excellent sequel
Let’s get the mundane stuff out of the way: The narrator was excellent with an interesting range of voices and emotions and very few odd pronunciations.
As a sequel I was hoping for more of the same and I wasn’t disappointed. The same excellent card based combat, the clearly thought-out strategies, the great character development. I am hooked and I’m waiting for the next book!
Without giving away too much, the twist in the end relating to the lich in the city was good. Even the minor characters do things that make sense, they don’t just have cardboard cutout role. The revelation about monster intelligence is a nice plot point.
All in all, no complaints and much to recommend!

something new really good stuff
love the story and i am really craving for more of this, sadly the narrator is awful and the writer dont seem to care, makes everything boring including the exciting scenes, I wish they change him these books really deserve a better narrator.
