Summary

This is a memoir about hope – hope in others, hope in systems and hope for the future. I've never quite known where to begin when someone asks me what I've been up to. I've never quite known how to explain what our daily life is like. I wanted to write how it is in order to give others a greater understanding of disability and caring. And to be totally honest, I wanted to write something that would make people consider being Louis's friend. So here is me introducing you: Louis, this is your story. Listeners, this is my son.

Heart wrenching

Wow, I heard Alisons story first on radio 4, and had to get the book.

Its made me laugh out loud and also got me in floods of tears. I highly recommend this book as a true testimony about doing your best to raise a family with love and patience.

Funny and touching - 5/5

A beautiful book that explores the struggles Alison White has had bringing up her disabled child. The subject matter may put people off as they'll think it's depressing but it's the opposite - it's very funny and really uplifting despite the difficulties the family have experienced. Highly recommended.
