About this listen

**WINNER OF THE AKTV PRIZE FOR BEST AFRIKAANS THRILLER OF 2024**

GRIESSEL AND CUPIDO ARE EXPECTING A QUIET LIFE

Detectives Benny Griessel and Vaughn Cupido remain on duty in beautiful Stellenbosch, but run-of-the-mill police work in a leafy university town famed for its vineyards is a far cry from their previous life in Cape Town fighting crime at the highest level. For now, Benny has more pressing things to worry about - it's the countdown to his wedding day on 12 June.

BUT THE PEACE IS ABOUT TO BE SHATTERED

When a student is found dead on a mountain trail, and the key suspect, a local businessman, is found murdered in what looks like a professional hit delivering a message - suffocated by fast-action filler foam sprayed down his throat - Griessel and Cupido both know this the work of professionals.
Benny also knows he needs a cool head to untangle this web of deceit, and to manage the incessant pressure. He needs to stay calm, focused - and sober. And it all needs to be wrapped up by 12 June.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING. AND CHAOS IS COMING...

Exceptional story that builds and builds...

The best narration I've heard for Deon's books and a must for anyone following Bennie's trials and tribulations

Classic Meyer. Classic Grissel & Cupido

An excellent listen. Thanks DM for another fabulous yarn crammed with all the good stuff. Brilliantly read. A chocolate cookie that boogies ....

As good as ever

Deon Meyer never lets the reader down. Pace, action, plot and writing skill are always good and this is one of his better ones. Definitely worth reading. My only criticism is that it felt a bit unfinished. Presumably there will be a sequel.

Excitement in South Africa

Performance brought the South African background to life.. the story was entertaining and exciting and dealt with State Capture in an up to date way .

Terrible narrator.

The story line was great, as expected. The narrator is great when doing voices and accents. He just has a terrible whining wat of telling the story. I really missed Saul Reichlin.

Edge-of-your-seat climax!

This started out in the usual way, with Deon Meyer telling two completely unrelated stories that gradually circle toward each other with an edge-of-your seat climax. Absolutely loved this book!!

Deon Meyer is a master story teller, and the translation and narration is top notch.

Excellent story, excellent narration. I really enjoyed this book. I've read all of Deons books now and loved them all but this was especially good.

Brilliant book as always

I couldn't wait to listen to this book, I love this series and love South Africa the story is great and makes you wonder how the two parts of the story meet, but they do meet and a brilliant story it is, I'm so glad the Flower is represented she is one of my favourite characters.
As for the narration I loved Saul Reichlin and was saddened to hear of his passing, but Peter Noble has done a wonderful job I love some of the Afrikaans sayings.
Can't wait until the next book please don't let it be so long

Where has Benny Gone?

Wrong Narrator often I was unable to differentiate between Benny speaking and the narrator, thereby crushing Benny's spirit.
