Summary
The Arizona Vengeance is hockey’s hottest new team. But hockey’s hottest goalie is learning that even the best players sometimes need an assist.
“You don’t have to like sports to love these books!” (New York Times best-selling author Jill Shalvis)
Everything is clicking for the Vengeance. We may be new, but we’re well on our way to winning the championship, and I’m having the time of my life headlining the sports media as the hottest goalie - hell, player - ever. I, for one, am going to live up to my name...because I am Legend Bay.
Dragging my ass home from the gym, I’m blinded by some gaudy, glowing holiday lights. As usual, my hot-as-hell neighbor Pepper Nantais has gone way over the top. But just as I’m about to tell her off, something else catches my eye.... Seems like Santa left me a present and not one I was expecting.
As life takes an unexpected turn, I realize that there’s much more to Pepper than meets the eye. Sure, she’s gorgeous. And exasperating. And her taste in decorating may be a bit...unique.
But beneath her carefree demeanor is a fierce determination and a heart of gold. And before I know it I’ve fallen for her. Hard....
Pepper is exactly the woman I never knew I needed.
Advance praise for Legend

I just loved it
I’m loving this series following the newly franchised hockey team Arizona Vengeance, and after book 2, Erik, I knew I was going to be in for a few surprises with Pepper and Legend. From their first meeting their relationship was tumultuous, a little bit of hate from Legend, and a little bit of love from Pepper. Legend has never hidden his disdain over Pepper’s flamboyant yard decor, even going as far as complaining to the home owners association, but when Legend gets a surprise package on his doorstep, Pepper turns out to be one person he can count on to help him. Wonderful writing (dual POV), a lovely story, featuring some emotional scenes dealing with some very real issues. Admittedly this story features a very extreme case, leaving me, the reader, gripping the edge of my seat, I think I nearly broke my kindle during a few scenes. Not too much hockey, but definitely lots of hot hockey players, past and future, and of course a few steamy scenes in the mix. I can’t wait to see what Sawyer gives us next. Audible is possibly the best way to read this book, Joe Arden and Andi Arndt bring this story to life perfectly. I just loved it.

It was okay
THE STORY:
At first, I wasn't sure why I felt like this story couldn't get more than 3 stars from me but now I know. I'm a lover of character-driven books, meaning the road the characters take to become a couple is what I'm most interested in. This book is very plot-driven due to the surprise baby and baby mama drama and that's completely fine. But this is exactly the reason why I didn't feel the chemistry between Legend and Pepper. Also, a lot of personal stuff happens off-page (tell and no show). For example, they talked about certain stuff the night before and would just recount things, same with when Legend met Pepper's parents, or when Pepper met the girls Brooke and Blue at the game,.... Even though these scenes may seem small and unnecessary, they are things I would have loved to experience with them; that's what makes me connect to the characters.
On a more positive note though, I loved seeing Legend take on to the parenting-role and I loved all the support Pepper gave him!
THE NARRATION:
Joe Arden and Andi Arndt! The perfect duo, I love them together and I love them on their own. Their narration was perfect, as always! ;)

Loved the drama and suspense!
Among all the Arizona Vengeance books I've listened to so far, this one had me at the edge of my seat the most! I loved the drama and suspense brought on by Lida, and loved that it wasn't over the top!
Legend and Pepper (love their names!) were perfect for each other. Yes, they started out as enemies, but then their relationship quickly evolved once Charlie came into the picture. It was awesome to see them both make space their lives for one other and for Charlie.
Narrators Joe Arden and Andi Arndt were wonderful as Legend and Pepper. Their performance made the characters more relatable.
Legend is a single dad, enemies-to-lovers contemporary sports romance written in dual first-person POV. It's a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.

Another Great Hockey Story
Loved it... Especially the fact that the Female Character has had to deal with being Childless Not By Choice #cnbc which is close to my own life story... yes there IS a baby on the story but she is not the female characters baby. And the way the male character dealt with her inability to have children was excellent. Obviously that is not the crux of the story so it's not a spoiler... Great story and I cannot wait for Dax's story nor Tackers story!!! just a few months to wait (and hopefully both will be on Audible too!!!!)

Team Legend!
The Arizona Vengeance has a chemistry between it's players and this story shows just how strong it is. Each player has strengths and weaknesses, but they always have each other's back. Legend is the goalie, and in this case the puck slipped by ad he was blessed with a baby on his doorstep! But he has no experience with a baby. He enlists the help of his annoying neighbor Pepper, who is more than helpful. And he realizes, she isn't nearly as annoying as he thought! Pepper has always been attracted to Legend, and liked getting under his skin with her quirkiness. Now with Charlie, these two find out there is chemistry between them. Will it last past the initial shock of becoming a father? Does Pepper want to be in the limelight of a hockey player's news? There are obstacles for these two to overcome, and a twist that adds excitement and suspense to this fun loving, warm hearted installment. You can't help but fall in love with this couple. Add the team players that come out to help like Dax and Tacker and we find ourselves feeling like part of the team.
Not only does Sawyer Bennett score a goal with this single dad romance, but her narration team is incredible. Andi Arndt and Joe Arden always give their performances all the feels, the humor and heart tugs that we have come to love. Each one finds their person's voice and let's us fall in love.
