About this listen

2013 Second Edition

Tired from going abroad on holiday and realizing just how little he knew about the country he lived in, Sean decided to take a month off, buy a bike, and cycle the iconic Land's End to John O'Groats, solo and unsupported. Sean faced cold nights in, wet days out, and nearly a month of his own thoughts while he had the adventure of a lifetime cycling through Britain.

"Every adventure cyclist needs to cycle around Britain. There is just so much to experience. If I had not done this ride then I probably wouldn't be where I am today."

Fun wee listen

Made me think about the parts of past trip / LEJOG also my next one (LEJOG this year) why I’m listening and about the one I’m soon to embark on with my son. Thanks Sean ... John York made me think I was listening to Sean directly at times 👏🏼

loved this very punch and funny in places. Sean brought to life the route and experiences of meeting people along the way.

Not as good as 'Cycling the Earth'

Listenable, but tries too hard to be funny. Just listen to his excellent 'Cycling the Earth' and leave it at that.

inspiring adventure

Sean's mini adventure is more like a giant adventure to us mere mortals. This is my second book by Sean Conway and I'm lining up the next

Don't bother

Boring uninspiring and annoying... how many words is that... yawn.
It must have been deliberately read fatalistic??

Quite entertaining account of escaping the rat rac

An entertaining account of somebody taking on a big challenge with little experience or planning. it shows what can be achieved without procrastination. it will give hope and motivation to all novice cyclists

More about the journey than the cycling

Entertaining story of every day adventure. It is more about the journey than the cycling.

Great book, narration not so great.

I love Sean Conway's books, the OTT narration is bugging me though, the narrator tries too hard and lacks the sincerity necessary for one to identify with the story. It's almost like it's being read for children.

Worst narrator ever!!!!!

Story is pleasant enough. Narrator...what can I say?! He speaks as though English is a second or perhaps third language. His intonation and emphasis make it sound like a text to speech app - a really bad one. Initially all uk residents are apparently from the Lancashire area. This may not be a bad thing because when regional accents are attempted it’s a car crash, nothing less. Words as simple as breakfast and Keswick shouldn’t present a challenge to a voice actor - should they!?!? This guy is dreadful
