About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

From the Sunday Times best-selling Author of The Salt Path and The Wild Silence.

The latest memoir from global bestselling author Raynor Winn.

Some people live to walk. Raynor and Moth walk to live...

Raynor Winn knows that her husband Moth's health is declining, getting worse by the day. She knows of only one cure. It worked once before. But will he—can he?—set out with her on another healing walk?

The Cape Wrath Trail is over two hundred miles of gruelling terrain through Scotland's remotest mountains and lochs. But the lure of the wilderness and the beguiling beauty of the awaiting glens draw them northwards. Being one with nature saved them in their darkest hour and their hope is that it can work its magic again.

As they set out on their incredible thousand-mile journey back to the familiar shores of the South-west Coast Path, Raynor and Moth map the landscape of an island nation facing an uncertain path ahead.

In Landlines, she records in luminous prose the strangers and friends, wilderness and wildlife they encounter on the way—it's a journey that begins in fear but can only end in hope.

Such an inspiring story

I really liked the vivid description of landscape and human connection to it. The writing draw me in and made want to put the kettle on and listen again. Not many books do that with me.

Another wonderful book

Loved this - as I knew I would after reading (or rather listening to) the first two books. Inspiring. And wonderful to hear Moth's voice!

Truly incredible

I’ve read / listened to all of Raynor’s books and absolutely loved them all. From the beauty of the landscape to the courage of Raynor and Moth, I’ve been totally immersed in this book.

tenderness

I'm not sure what I expected, but in the end this book took me on an intimate journey with the British countryside, the people on it and in it and a couple wrangling with long term illness. a perfect book to read before or after the book of trespass I think as both discuss the limitations on places to roam, territoriality and judgment that comes from an island folk to the hopefulness, generosity and joy that also resides here. tender beautiful reading.

Love this

It reminds me of my own feelings about paths and the feeling of history and connections. And I’m pleased that the voice of Ray, and the important issues that she addresses about people politics and the environment can be clearly heard by so many people who will read or listen to this. X

A truly inspirational couple

This is another superb book by Raynor. You walk in their shoes. You feel their pain and their love for nature, our country and the freedom and challenges it provides. Wonderful from start to finish. Thank you for sharing your story xxx

Disappointed

I have listened to all three books and this was disappointing. I wanted their story and not an unsubstantiated opinion on the woes of the planet caused (they say) by over population. Regenerative farming practices should never have been pushed aside for mass food production but I guess profit is the deciding factor rather than quality.

Not as good as 1 and 2 but still lovely

A bit of a slower story than the first two books, but still massively impressive and lovely to read. A feel good book (after you get through the first half)

A beautiful story about a journey and the land

Left me with the same, contented happy feelings as Winn's previous books. Listening to her words are the next best thing to being out on the trails yourself. A few of the previous reviews have criticised the narration... it isn't plastic-perfect professional but was a very calming and a pleasure to listen to.
