Summary

A badly burned body with a fresh incision and a missing kidney leads Walt into the clandestine world of an organ trader ring that has set up shop in Kansas City.

Walt is determined to bring to justice the bootleggers, who purchase body parts from the disadvantaged and sell them to people with means, until a relative from Maggie's past turns up needing a kidney to survive.

Once again, Walt discovers that very little in his world is black and white.

Right or wrong? Good or evil?

Through the perception of Walt Williams, the real estate broker turned elderly cop, author Robert Thornhill again confronts his readers with both sides of a topical issue, asking if anything is good or bad? What could be a difficult topic to explore, that of receiving money in exchange for an human organ that could save a life, is made easy in the company of Walt and his numerous tennants and friends. Poor Walt again goes undercover, briefly, and whilst one acquaintance dies, another lives, and good old Maggie gets to swing her bat once more.
Not only questioning and informative, this whole series, including Lady Justice and the Organ Traders, sparkles with warm and real characters involved in stories both comedic and sad and always entertaining. The excellent George Kuch again becomes Walt Williams as he narrates his story.
Thought provoking and fun, this is another must read book from Mr.Thornhill.

Justice or fate

Another great story that gets you questioning everything you believe by giving you two perspectives on the subject. For such a serious subject that can tug on your heart string Robert Thornhill has a wonderful way of keeping it light hearted but still hard hitting at the same time. Excellent book and a wonderful series.
Maggie's long lost brother has come out of witnesses protection because he is dying and wants to spend his last days with his sister. At the same time Walt and Ox are trying to investigate an organ trafficking ring but going under cover isn't an option because the bad guys can just checks a data base and there cover is blown. If only they knew someone on the donor list. Maggie's brother jumps at the chance to impress his baby sister and with his MacGyver skills he proves to be a very valuable tool. Unfortunately coming out of hiding has also brought the man he is hiding from, out to.
George Kuch is once again an excellent choice and is the perfect voice for rookie cop Walt Williams and friends.
