About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
From internationally renowned writer and Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie, a searing, deeply personal account of enduring - and surviving - an attempt on his life thirty years after the fatwa that was ordered against him
Speaking out for the first time, and in unforgettable detail, about the traumatic events of August 12, 2022, Salman Rushdie answers violence with art, and reminds us of the power of words to make sense of the unthinkable. Knife is a gripping, intimate, and ultimately life-affirming meditation on life, loss, love, art - and finding the strength to stand up again.

Chapter 6 is essential reading, and outstanding. In this chapter he has an imaginary conversation with his assailant. The other chapters are not of the same quality but still good :)

A sincere and authentic viewpoint on the events, with the author guiding you as a passenger on his journey.
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I rarely revisit books, but I want to listen to this one again to fully absorb its message. I'm glad to hear the author has found peace; it's true that life is worth living and love truly conquers all.

Well structured
Mr Rusdie lays out and relives the terrible events of that day in a well structured organised sometimes surprisingly emotive manner

Honest, moving, painful
A lucid gaze not only into the effects - physical and emotional- of this horrific attack but also a reflection on the A, the attacker, and the culture that spawned him. It is a relief and a joy to know that Salman has not been diminished by it, in spite of the obvious physical wounds. Thank you for reading this yourself Salman. Be happy.

Extraordinary
The reading of this moving account of the attack on Rushdie’s life and his subsequent recovery is an astonishing achievement. Rushdie did not simply survive the attack on his life, he triumphed and rendered his attacker irrelevant, neither worthy to be forgiven, nor not to be forgiven. Helpful for all who suffered PTSD but we are all lucky that he survived and turned his experience into this book. May many more follow.

Elegant Writing!
My first Rushdie read, and it won't be the last. Breathtaking story of pathos and triumph that only few people can write so vividly. I recommend it.

Survival
I feel I now understand Salman better. I’ve read and enjoyed most of Rushdie’s books and will pick up again the last one I was when the attack happened, Qixote. I think I had been frozen in time until now. Like him I can move on.

Honesty. Brilliance.
Loved it all. Relieved Rushdie came out so well from what have could been absolute tragedy. Riveting.
