About this listen
The Undercover Assassin
Quain Beaumont is paid to kill people and he’s good at it. When he’s contracted, for a hefty sum, to protect a district attorney’s son in New Gothenburg, he can’t say no. However, he doesn’t expect Barber to be such an attractive pain in the ass. Complicating matters, Barber is part of the Kings of Men MC. He can’t risk a romantic attraction to a target, but Barber’s charm makes it hard not to fall into bed with him.
The Shit-Stirring Biker
There’s nothing more exciting to Luke “Barber” Booth than pulling pranks and causing problems. The reactions he gets out of people keep his days interesting, even if it sometimes results in fist fights with his club brothers. His next-door business neighbor is no different. Quain is uptight, so Barber takes pleasure in annoying him, which ensures nearly daily visits from Quain to the barber shop. Quain might be a whiny hairstylist, but he’s beautiful. Barber is only too happy to take a bite out of him.
An Attempted Murder and Confessions
When there’s an attempt on Barber’s life, Quain does what he’s been paid to do — protect him — but Barber’s uncle and cousin are kidnapped instead. In order to set things right, Quain must admit the truth to Barber about his undercover status and assignment. To Barber’s disgust, they need to work together to get his family back. By the end of this mess, it’s not only their lives at risk, but their hearts, too.

Fun story
This is almost funny for being a biker story. Quain is the funny part. My problem is I didn’t feel the narrator was able to capture the character. Barber, being the biker, is a complex personality. How these characters ended up together an author could pull off. There is a snarkiness and clash of personalities that made the story enjoyable. I really enjoyed the relationship between Quain and KC. Even though I enjoyed the story but I don’t think this narrator is able to meant to narrate biker stories.

Great story, horrible narrator
It's a shame because this is one of my favourite books; I really love the relationship between Quain and Barber with all their back and forth and sniping. But the fun of the story is lost sometimes with just how horrible the narrator is. It's difficult to tell which of the main POVs he's voicing at any time and his voice for Sophie sounds nothing at all like a teenage girl, I cringed any time she had dialog, it really pulled me out of the story.
If you can bear with the bad narration this is a great story, but it might be better to read the book rather than deal with it.

A great series, but I hated the narration
I have loved this series, and this book was so well written. The MC Barber (Luke) and Killer (Quain) are well described and have great lines that made me laugh. However, in my opinion, the narration for Quain let the whole book down. The tone, accent, everything about it made me cringe. I also have to turn the speed up to 1.35 on audible as he reads too slowly for my ears.
Saying that, I still listened until the end as I love the writers and the series, and yet again, they do not disappoint. Full of snark, violence, love and hot sex, what's not to love.

Kings MC serie is one of my favourite book series ever and I re-read the books all the time. I love them all.
This book has it all: humor, sex and amazing MCs.
Also, I like Andrew Ladd performance, great narrator!

Dangerous shenanigans
Barber is a troublemaker who loves to get under peoples skin.
Quain is assigned to Barber because he's in danger.
Their initial animosity quickly turns to scorching passion.
There's plenty of danger, drama and action that kept me turning the pages.
The narration seemed a bit mechanical for my tastes.

So good
A different spin for Barber's story. Great thrill and twists. I love the family at it's core.
Barber is hilarious and just asking for trouble. Always trying to push people buttons and start a fight. I like how Quain balanced him out but also ignited fellows beyond lust. These two matched well!
