About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Jade isn't even my real name. Jade began as my Starbucks name, because all children of immigrants have a Starbucks name.

Jade has done all the right things.

She's curated herself to fit right in at her law firm, but tells herself she has no choice.

She's with a man who loves her, but isn't always herself around him.

She's made her Omma and Baba proud, but resents that they can't properly understand her.

Jade is perfectly in control of her life.

Until one terrible night unravels Jade's carefully constructed world, leaving her wondering who she truly is.

JADED is a refreshing and bitingly honest debut novel about how one shocking event can upend everything... and asks, what would you have done in her situation?

Brilliant Story, I Couldn’t Stop Listening!

This is probably one of the best books I’ve listened to in a while. The story is so much more about the event that happens to Jade. It taks about her life growing up as a child of immigrant parents and navigating who she really is and who she is expected to be whilst trying to cope with what had happened to her.

It’s a heartbreaking yet uplifting story about a young woman trying to find herself after losing everything she worked so hard for.
It brought me to tears on more than one occasion and l
Has left me thinking about my own experiences as a child of immigrants and the idea of the moral minority. I can’t recommend it enough.

Strong Narrative Voice but very of a genre

Excellence performance from the reader who handled a wide and challenging array of accents. Story was compelling but very of a similar style to others I’ve read recently (Queenie; Yinka Where is your Huzband; Love me Love me not) about professional female millennial angst.

This book is fantastic

First of all audible needs to remove the African American tag attached to this book because the main character is Korean Turkish British.
Second of all this book is fantastic think Prima facie mixed with your driver is waiting.

Really really good

Confronts contemporary challenges that young professionals, especially female minorities, face when navigating the corporate world. Particularly in spaces when people higher up in the corporate structure or from privileged backgrounds thinly veil their prejudices.

Masterful writing, top tier narration

Fantastic book. I zoomed through it! Top tier narration (the accents!) and truly masterful writing. 👌

Modern

Ok - very basic . Some nice cultural insights. Also a few inconsistencies. Healing is good , a few reprehensible and gross characters , that’s the point I guess

Great narration!

The story was good but it was made excellent by the voice acting, would definitely recommend!

Wow, what a powerful novel

Jaded is a profoundly deep and challenging book. Beautifully written and confronting so many contemporary challenges. Highly recommended (with appropriate trigger warnings).

Disturbing but important

I round Thais book Well written, it sì a disturbing though gripping story, thai touches topica that are very sensitive and unfortunately very common. I read it even though I would have wanted not in one go, as it was like looking at a scary movie whose horrible scenes you can hardly bare to watch.
