Hope is a Cruel Thing

I was in two minds whether follow on from Reign of Earth, but I am glad I did as I found this book more engaging, albeit a little disconnected from Book 1.

I can’t say I really fell in love with Asp, but then I can’t say I really fell in love with Shalia. Kai, on the other hand; I loved for his compassion and strength. Character development was good, although I had trouble keeping up with who had which element.

The ending was a heartbreaker, even more so since I have just seen there may be no third book on Audible!! If I had known this earlier, I doubt I would have purchased either book as it had too much of an open end.

I preferred the narrator in this book, which is probably why I found it more engaging than Book 1.
