About this listen

Taking place a generation after The Talismans of Shannara, The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch opens with the discovery of a body. Only two people understand its significance: Walker Boh, the last of the Druids and a familiar character to Shannara fans, and the Ilse Witch, a beautiful but dark young woman who wields a potent magic. Thus begins the voyage of the Jerle Shannara in a race to uncover the mystery, which of course includes an unusual cast of characters: an Elven prince; a monstrous creature who is part man, part enigma; and a young man who may unknowingly hold the key to the success of the mission. For he is the only one who can call upon that ancient talisman, the Sword of Shannara.

For the legions of fans who've been captivated since the very first Shannara novel, this eagerly anticipated new chapter in Terry Brooks' signature series will be reason to celebrate. The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Ilse Witch offers an intriguing invitation to plunge again into the enthralling world of the best-selling Shannara adventures.

Good story and a good performance. The only thing I didn't like was the f...ing music in the beginnig and the end. Enoying and distracting.

Great book

The usual excitement and suspense, with a great storyline, the only small criticism I would have is Walker ( one of the main characters )was a little overplayed

Pity the book is not unabridged

Loved the series for a long time, but the narrator could definitely have been much better. A favourite from years back, unfortunately totally spoiled for me by being unabridged. The whole story is much richer than this.

excellent audio book

I read this book many years ago. As an audio book I think I enjoyed it even more. My only criticism would be the narrator's interpretation of the voices of the characters. But overall 5 stars.

Gutted

So disappointed when I discovered to little to late that this was not an unabridged version of one of my favourite series growing up.

Sorry Sam Fontana but I could not listen to your narration past the 2 minute mark!

Sincerely hope that an unabridged version is released with Scott Brick narration. I have been listening to the complete Shanarra chronicles in order and now feel I can’t go on☹️. It’s a good job I have read the books before.

Awfull narration

The narrator was ridiculously overdramatising voices and was almost comical at times. frankly dissapointing and ruined the book. I absolutly love the auther so it was a shame to have such a poor performance. The narrator could have done with dialing down the American action movie voice over impressions by about 50%.

Truly awful narrator

I would much have preferred an unabridged version although I'm not sure i would've been able to put up with the narrator that long. It's a shame that an unabridged version wasn't available though. Ive read the book and missing so much out definitely is to the detriment of the story.
The narration was appalling, there is no other way to describe him I'm afraid. Most of the male characters were delivered in an exaggerated tone such as announcers awards on tv as though reading a notice. The female characters were delivered in a similarly strange manner whikst the dwarf was intoned as though he was a character in a children's novel. Awful just awful.
