Summary

Despite unimaginable odds, Marine Lieutenant Gant Maker has once again done the impossible, defeating the alien Vacra’s invasion force and nullifying their unstoppable doomsday device.

With their armada destroyed and their fleet crippled, the Vacra resort to the inconceivable: They sue for peace via an unexpected envoy. Fresh off his highly improbable victory, Maker now finds himself faced with the unenviable and undesirable task of escorting the Vacra representative home.

On a voyage fraught with peril, Maker and his contingent of misfit Marines must travel far beyond the bounds of known space, to a region where human beings are at best an unknown lifeform (and at worst, viewed as less than animals). Contending with alien slavers, space pirates, and warships, Maker is determined to accomplish his assigned task. However, he soon learns that the stakes are far higher than he ever imagined, as his mission exposes him to a new danger - a menace that threatens to destroy the entire human race if Maker can’t find a way to stop it.

Another out of this world adventure

Just loved this book. I always look forward to a new book by this author and I wasn't disappointed by this instalment. You can alway guarantee that it is going to be full of adventure, fights and twists, as well as great characters. Just when you think you know what is going to happen there is a twist and the adventure goes off in a different direction. This is book three in the series and although it isn't necessary to have listened to the previous books it does continue from where book two left off, I highly recommend that you start with book one and work your way through. The hours spent in space (or should I say listening to this book) just flew by......which is good because it means you are enjoying it but bad because you have to wait for the next book.
With the destruction of the Vacra space ship, Lt Maker and his team are enjoying some down time. That is until he gets summoned to a meeting. Skull cap, Makers deadliest foe, is the only Vacra left a live and as a diplomat he his demanding that Maker and his misfit of soldiers escort him to his home planet, in exchange for the classified technology they stole from them. Maker wants to kill him on sight and now he has to deny his instincts and do the unthinkable. Can the Vacra be trusted to keep up there end of the bargain? Maker doesn't think so, no he just has to make sure he and his team stay one step ahead of a deadly foe that has already proved himself to be a grand master.
Mikael Naramore is one of my favourite narrators and combine his smooth voice with an excellent book and you will find yourself in outer space on a wild adventure.

Space tastic

Another great adventure from Mad Maker and his merry band. I was quite surprised as to how this one went in direction, but the twists worked out well and gave this some interesting possibilities for future stories which i hope continue on for a long while yet.
Narration is top notch as always with Narramore in the hotseat as well.
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts for all to peruse.

Interesting new worlds & strange alien characters

Once again Maker and his team face an almost impossible task. Faced with escorting his arch-enemy home, he must try to put aside his own feelings while still keeping himself and his team safe. On the journey, he discovers that even the Vacra might be more than they seem.
The book dives straight into a discussion including all the characters which helped remind me of the previous books. I enjoyed reading more about Maker and the other characters. I felt some of it was a bit implausible, why would no one ever listen to Maker's warnings! Lots of interesting new worlds and strange alien characters.
