Summary
Despite being branded as an outcast amongst outcasts, Phelan Oliver devotes his life to helping his fellow Necromancers. But even with his vast knowledge, nothing prepares him for the day he comes face to face with a demon he didn’t summon—one who embodies everything he has been taught to hate, whose wickedness sparks sinful feelings Phelan can’t ignore no matter how much he tries.
Taken captive by a prince of Hell, Phelan strikes a desperate bargain. In exchange for his soul’s freedom, he’ll give his captor what he wants, even if it means betraying his own family. But demons aren’t the only ones with secrets and Phelan’s might end up costing them both more than they’d ever imagined.
IGNI FERROQUE is a dark MM paranormal romance about a pious Necromancer and an incorrigible demon and what happens when their paths intersect. There’s scorching steam and brutal violence in this enemies-to-lovers tale, wrapped up with plenty of intrigue and betrayal. It is intended for a mature audience and listener discretion is advised. A full list of triggers can be found in the front matter of the book and at my website under Tropes & Triggers. This book can be listened to as a standalone, but it is highly suggested to listen to the series in order, as the history of Winslow and its witches builds on itself with each book.

Now this was a journey!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Simply amazing!! After Malum, I went into this without reading the blurb and anything about it. Knowing how much I loved the first book of the series, I thought it will be impossible to not enjoy the second one. And I'm happy I did so, because it was an amazing journey!!

Pious necromancer meets sexy demon...
This is more of a "dark" romance than Malum Discordiae in that it includes non-con, dub-con, torture and other stuff I wouldn't normally seek out, but I like the world in which these books are set and the whole sexy-demon-tempts-pious-soul thing intrigued me.
I liked the religious elements in the story - I have no patience with religion IRL and was with Ramiel all the way when it came to his showing Phelan how he was being used and that he had no real freedom - and I enjoyed the story as a whole, although as with Malum Discordiae there are places where the pacing flags a bit and things get a bit repetitive, and there are probably a few sex scenes too many. Fortunately, the narration by Michael Gallagher and J.F. Harding is excellent and manages to paper over the cracks a bit - although I don't know why there are two narrators, because either one of them could have carried this solo. This was my first time listening to Gallagher - he's very good, although there are times he doesn't differentiate sufficiently between Ramiel and Phelan - and J.F. Harding (who narrated Malum Discordiae) is fabulous as both the sexy demon and the pious necromancer.
Recommended with caveats - and a suggestion to check the author's trigger warnings page.
