Summary

There is no fate worse than immortality

Will you forsake all you have known to achieve your destiny?

When Elise Matherstone, the youngest of the immortals, upholds the law of the Citadel, her world unravels around her.

The dark origin of the immortality of her masters is uncovered, and those she believed were her allies quickly become her worst nightmare.

Now the most wanted fugitive in the city of Naka, Elise must use her training to evade capture.

Blood will spill, and the line between good and evil becomes blurred.

Elise must make a choice—submit to the hypocrisy of her brethren, or abandon all she has known, and join her greatest enemy in pursuit of her own destiny.

An enjoyable story read by a great narrator

A great story that keeps twisting and turning from the start. I switched allegiance from the main characters on many occasions only to switch back at the end of each chapter. I won't post any spoilers but it did remind me very much of a series that was set in New York a few years back - very well done.

The narrator did a fantastic job of reading this book and kept me wanting to continue listening even after I'd arrived home and needed to get out of the car.

There is a sequel to this book but not yet out as audio. I'll certainly be hoping it is given the same treatment and I'll happily pay to listen to it.

As someone who lives in the North West of England, it's good to see/hear from 'local' writers.
