About this listen
All academics need to write, but many struggle to finish their dissertations, articles, books, or grant proposals. Writing is hard work and can be difficult to wedge into a frenetic academic schedule. How can we write it all while still having a life?
In this second edition of his popular guidebook, Paul Silvia offers fresh advice to help you overcome barriers to writing and use your time more productively. After addressing some common excuses and bad habits, he provides practical strategies to motivate students, professors, researchers, and other academics to become better and more prolific writers. Silvia draws from his own experience in psychology to explain how to write, submit, and revise academic work, from journal articles to books, all without sacrificing evenings, weekends, and vacations. The tips and strategies in this second edition have been updated to apply to academic writing in most disciplines. Also new to this edition is a chapter on writing grant and fellowship proposals.

Very useful
I was recommended to read this book in one of the writing workshops. And although it is more relevant for post-docs and above, the basic principles are very relevant. As obvious as the main advice sounds, it is very difficult to stick to it, but it is the only way to successfully write a lot.
And yes, the narrator prolongs the last vowels, as was noted in one of the reviews. It does distract from the content once you pay attention to it, as you cannot unhear it …

interesting ideas, verbal tick of read annoys
a solid and practical book of guidance. Mr Sorensen's really annoying way of emphasising and elongating the final word in every third sentence is really annoyingggg.

excellent book, narration a bit jarring
I own a paper version of this book, but have somehow never managed to read it. finally I decided to listen to it instead, and I'm very glad I did. it's an excellent guide, and I feel empowered to write much more (maybe even a book...). my only issue is with the narration, it's a bit annoying!

Change the narration
Unfortunately I had to play 3x and I still cannot sync to the author due to the bad narration that sounds like robotic and isn’t natural.
